I already have a 25" Chit. Were I a mightier man, it would be nice to have one for each hand.:D;)

Gorgeous pics and gorgeous Khuks, Yangdu! :)

I have been lucky to recently purchase three blades by Sher Kami.

The quality of his skills is exceptional, the blades being amoung my favourites. :)

The photo's are most serene, the snow would be welcome change here but most unlikely to happen. ;)

Sher makes a nice khuk, folks. I have a WWII of his and it's fantastic. Nice blade and a very comfy handle. Sadly, too many expenses right now...

I really hate when the Khukri Khween posts awesome knives. I do not have the money for that Gelbu Special, and yet part of me wants to scrape it together because, hey, it's for a good cause.

My Sher khuk is great. I would love to help him, but funds have been depleted with the holiday season...

Beautiful knives by Sher. That 25" Chit is amazing!

As we all know, the availablility of health care in Nepal is only for the well to do. The kamis are lucky to be working for Pala and Yangdu, otherwise they would be out of luck. If we wanted to help Sher and couldn't afford one of these fine pieces, I'll bet Yangdu would accept paypal donations marked "For Sher's Medical Expenses".

I haven't checked with Aunt Yangdu, so I hope this is ok.

Steve

HI Bladeforumites: Sher Kami needs help

Hey folks... I have an idea... follow this link to check it out:

Removed link....Sorry, BF rules prohibit linking to other forums.

Lord knows i wish i could, Steve, I'd do both... We're watching our pennies here, until i get back to work. I may have to go apply for medicaid myself to see this through.

UD: your linky requires registration..........

EDIT: ok..maybe i found it...Do you mean do a Raffle for his care?

Hey man, I know how it is. Don't sweat it.:)

They don't normally do raffles here, but it has been done. I was the fortunate winner of the following Bhairab Khukri in late November 2007 fundraiser for Ram's education:

According to Yangdu's shop manager Rajesh this knife was very rare and historical; used by Nepal King Prithvi Narayan Shah.

Overall length --25''
Weight -- 76 oz
Spine thickness -- 1/2''
Brass Bhairab head buttcap
Brass guard
Copper inlayed on both sides or balde
Satisal wood handle
Brown leather scabbard
Made by Vim Kami

She does and it is 'ok'.

Thanks for checking Bonkers RE the Paypal thing!!
Hmmm.... I wonder if one of us could buy a blade, and then hold the raffle...
Lets see... how to do it...
OK, if 15 people were to put in $8.33 that would = the $125.00
Then, whomever's ticket was drawn would get the blade...
Thoughts anyone?
Ed

Sorry Ed, raffles aren't allowed on BFC except under certain situations and then they can't be called "raffles."
Has to do with state or fed law IIRC. Just so you'll know my friend, no harm done.;)
