That Deradune is a new one to me, almost reminds me of an ASTK.

Same here, if it were with a Chiruwa handle... Can anyone see any other differences?

EDIT: It actually IS with a Chiruwa handle, I am not paying attention, so then the only difference is the carving and the lack of a lanyard hole?

wish I had the dough for that Deradune, I like it a lot.

I think the angle of the Deradune is a bit less than that of the ASTK as well...

To me it looks like it has a less pointy tip than the Amar Singh Thapa Knife. I was going to point out that it is a Chiruwa and the carving and of course the lack of a lanyard hole; but you edited too quickly for me. The only thing left is the # of handle pins.

PS I frequently use the common acronyms for the various knife types; but after reading about General Amar Singh Thapa I have decided he deserves to have his name used not just initials. Just my own personal thoughts.

E-mail sent for scary shiny C-bit.

Haha - good snag

Also, to me the Deradun looks like a less forward curved ASTK blade paired with a more decorative M-43 handle. Both models being amazing knives, a hybrid of sorts should prove to be a handy blade ;)

The sword of Shiva looks different too.

All hail General Amar Singh Thapa!;)

Heinlein,

It was the 1st Dotd for the model.
Not mine. I got something similar coming though ;)

I guess whenever a model that resembles the Brave ASTK ( excuse the initials again), the love and passions for it must revive.

My mistake. I saw it wasn't today's and made an assumption.

No problem. I don't expect everyone to share my idiosyncrasies.

If they come out with a Baby Amar Singh Thapa Knife they should call it the Ranjur for Amar's son.:D Not trying to be presumptuous as I like the names they have come up with so far.

I like the Deradune a lot:thumbup:. It kind of looks like an M43 with a shoulder, to my newbie eyes. A similiar grip, blade profile (except the shoulder of course), point, fuller, etc. The size and weight on this one is also very close to my M43. The handle engraving is a nice touch and I'm curious if it would cause too much friction or just improve grip. I'm thinking it would improve the grip a bit, but be too minimal to raise a blister in use. The grip appears not to have any curve, but I'm way too new to understand what that means to performance. I like the knife though. Take care.

the Deradune must be close to the ultimate khukuri. (of course every khuk is ) ;)
a astk/m-43 mix thing:)
it realy has some nice and special detales on it.
lovely:)
