No image showing Yangdu...looks like the site is down.

An opportunity to show your faith sharkies...who wants to bite on an Indonesian model on faith?

I know someone out there has both the sense and money to do so...

I was wondering if another one of these would be made. I like the design and they look like they would be useful. But I have no more money to spend, or I would get it.

The pictures are showing for me.

hahaha....too late, the pics now show and sharkies are typing...

Oooooooooooooh! I likey! That looks like a truly handy blade. Beautiful too. Also made by Sher and Chiruwa tang. How can you beat that combo? Someone better grab that bad boy quick!

Wowza, I hope they make more of these when I have money!

Thanks. My wife just left town for a week. This is my consolation prize, to ease my depression.

If I do this more often, maybe she'll quit going out of town....

That was a joke!

Man. Thats a sweetie. Who got it?

Well its a heck of a snag, sir. That looks like an uber useful shape. Easy fun mod projects too. Many hours of delightful modding jump right out at me. Not that its not great as is, but I'm just that way. Every blade I get begs me to mod it these days.

Right away I'd mod that scabbard with a real cowhide frog and remove that chape and replace it with a leather one.

The knife itself, I'd refinish the handle for certain. Thats a quick one, and the HI woods really pop when you refinish them. The rouge they use hides the figure of their beautiful woods. I refinish all my HI handles.

Additional mods would depend on the heat treat. If the heat treat isn't what you'd like to see, then I'd rehandle it after a good reheat treating.

I'd sure like to get my hands on one of these. They are beautiful.

Congrats Andy!!! What's your techique for refinishing the wood handles? I have a couple thet could use some help. Waldo

First I tape off everything that I don't want scratched with the file. Then, I reshape the handle with a file as necessary. *****Ultra care will be needed near the ring, if present. You won't believe how easy it is to chip a big hunk of ring away.******* Here that isn't a worry. Keep the file away from the pins as deep scratches in the pins are hard to get out. Then use sandpaper starting with 80 or 100 grit and working up to 220. I've heard guys here go to 1500, but I can't see the point of that myself. JMHO. After 220 grit paper I switch to Scotchbrite pads. (Maroon, Green, Grey, White) Scotchbrite pads are great on knife handles and blades too. Then I hit it with Watco's Danish oil. For the first coat I apply every few minutes for ~1 hour. Then let it sit till its stickey and wipe off. Over the next few days I do a few light coats, putting it on, waiting 15 minutes, and wiping. Voala. Boy that makes those curly woods pop!!!!! Then occasionally I dunk it in mineral oil for 24 hours, drain it for another 24 hours, then wipe.
