Very nice pieces today:)!
All of them are tempting, but I better hold off. That Sarge almost made me cave.

Jake

Those GRSs by Bura are just lovely. The villager's karda looks like it's absorbed a bit of Sarge-shape ...

... not today, but somebody's going to be very happy.

Uncle Bill used to have a wise saying that always comforted me when i was in college, poor, hungry, but really wanted a khuk. He used to say..."Debt is good." ;):D
Don't worry, Skydog. There'll be more.

Nice resolve, Jake.

You lasted three whole minutes.

Thanks Jake. You saved me from spending money I don't have right now.;) :D

Hot Pepper wood handle on the Sarge? That's excellent. I love the horn BGRS too, though it's a tad heavy for me. The Satisaal is nice but there's too much cho creep for my taste....think I'm getting a little picky here? But that Pen...

Email sent on 12 inch 13 ounce villager Pen Knife by Bura.

Couldn't resist. I've wanted one of those since I first got here.:D

-Tycho-

P.S.: I think I've got the delayed strain of HIKV...I was fighting it well for a while, but the past 15 days have been eroding my willpower. Must....Resist....

Horn hanlde GRS, Pen knife & Sarge gone.

Email sent on the antler katunje. This will make a nice match to the pretty neem one I got a few weeks ago.

Thanks,

Norm

Well I didn't get the Sarge. Someone is gonna be a lucky guy or gal. I've got a great one in my back pocket right now. Another one will be by. The wife has "noticed" a few more boxes have been dropped off at the door as of late. We stopped getting wedding gifts a few weeks ago. Egad, my spurging has caught up with me;)

e-mail sent on the wood 15" BGRS. Wow, it's been 10 months since my last khukuri purchace -- I guess I fell off the wagon.

All beautiful. That pen knife was a sweetie for sure. I liked the BGRS too! Oh well. No sharkin today. Can someone please educate me on cho creep? What is it, how does it happen?

Andy

Andy,
Cho creep refers to the amount of space between the bolster and the end of the cho. If you look at a lot of older khuks you'll notice that the cho is almost smack dab next to the bolster. Over the years HI's chos have gradually started to creep closer and closer toward the tip. Many find this visually unappealing and untraditional although it does nothing to harm the khuk's structure. There are several theories on just why in the world the kami's do it. They range from keeping the edge farther from the tang so that water won't accidentally spill and harden the tang during the forging process, to believing that giant clumsy western hands would be prone to slip up on the blade and be cut. It's really anyone's guess:p

Got the Horn BGRS, Pen Knife and Sarge...

I've been waiting for exactly those two (the pen knife and BGRS) for a while now. I feel like I'm no longer a newbie as a shark...the pen especially has kept me watching for it.

Really hard to pass up that Katunge - on any other day... - that looks like an absolutely beautiful antler handle.

The Katunje in antler...almost perfect ....couldn't get on line today or that would have been mine
