Wow. Every one of those is a winner!
Love the unique handle on that WWII. Tirtha makes the most graceful M43 I've ever seen. That BDC would be perfect in a shoulder rig. Congrats to all the sharks:)

The Tirtha M43 is beautiful. The Horn handle really stands out.. If I didn't already have a Tirtha M43 I'd jump on that. The WW2 handle is pretty cool. I like the lanyard hole. I bet the grip is ultra comfy. It sorta reminds me of one of my Mcurdys.

Three awesome khuks! The handle on that WWII reminds me of something.....:)

Greetings all!
I'm looking to by my first Kuk and had been looking at either the BAS or WWII as a good general purpose blade. Since I'm a newbie, can someone familiar with the BDC and the BAS and WWII give me a thumbnail comparison? The BDC appears to have similar specs as the BAS but the BDC appears to have more curvature, how does this curvature affect the feel and would the BDC be a good first blade? I was looking at the villager in the Palanchok thread but would like to have all the accessories. Any and all feedback appreciated!

Welcome bemo !,

The BAS,WWII and BDC are all nice khuks for the beginner user, but the more forward curved khuks are not for everyone. It takes a bit more forethought and practice to hit the sweet spot consistantly with them. Out of the three you listed, the WWII is probably the easiest to learn the basics with and is more forgiving, followed closely by the BAS.
You also want to pay attention to size and weight. Larger users prefer larger khuks and likewise smaller people do well with smaller khuks. I usually find that a 16" khuk of whatever flavor suits my need for chopability without excess weight.
