I have my fingers crossed. I have been waiting for this one. I have a perfectly match wakizashi from HI that is begging for a partner.

Update: Just got the Done Deal!!! Thank you again Auntie for an amazing deal.

Had noticed Auntie was online for the past two hours. I have been refreshing my iPhone every two minutes for the last couple hours. I was on the road taking care of customers so I had pull over once I saw the DOTD after my 9000 refresh lol. I watched for this baby all day and I am glad I did. I just hope I wasn't to distracted and I hope everyone's servers will be ok today. Its kind of a blur, I don't have time for work when kukris are on my mind.

I liked this wood-handled crow knife better than the horn-handled one from yesterday, so I emailed Yangdu, and since no one had spoken up for this one yet, she let me have this one instead. So if anyone wants the last crow knife available, the one listed in the 12/15 sales from yesterday is available, instead of this one.

and ems on the Bhairab mask.

Nice grab on the mask. I was on the fence about grabbing it. It would look cool in a display with kukris or swords.

Wow! I do admire that mask!! The sword is O.K.,too, but the mask is awesome!! Is that a Sekret Woolie Hat Society wannbe in the picture?

What is the ceremonial purpose of the mask? Does it frighten evil spirits away like similar masks do in different cultures? Is it a war mask to scare the boots off the enemy? It's a very cool item and I would like to see more of the this type of product.

No. It does not frighten evil spirits away. It can't because my ex-Momma-in-law was the inspiration for the mask!

I think I am going to have to get one of those BDC's but I will have to wait till I find one at about 12" and under 14oz

Mother-in-law or not, back on 12/19/2013 someone (not me) posted this explanation:

Bhairav(a) is a hardcore(think Samuel L Jackson) guardian deity. (how hardcore? He is called "Kal Bhairav" because even Kal(a), meaning Time or the God of Death is scared witless of him). Masks are usually hung on premises as a form of protection from burglars, natural disasters etc.
Depending on which part of south east Asia, the origin of Bhairav slightly differs. Mostly accepted form is that he's an incarnation of god Shiva (a really aggressive incarnation, I might add), however according to (some) scholars, Bhairav worship predates that of Shiva.

I keep my Kal Bhairav near my PC, to ward off evil computer viruses.

Thank you for the explanation. It makes a lot of sense due to the region and religious beliefs. Older than Shiva? That is one old deity. It kind of reminds me of a Foo Dog or an Oni demon from Japan.

LOL viruses... I get calls all the time about computer viruses. Most of them are just user error or a bogged down computer due to repeated "clicking" on every scare you into thinking you have a virus so click "here". Some sheeple are so easily fooled

"Your computer might be infected. Please panic for a few seconds, then download and run this free antivirus." -> downloads & runs "antivirus" -> PC infected for real.

Never gets old :).
