A while ago I asked Yangdu if when the smoke cleared from all the new models coming in, she couldn't arrange to have some 18" Bura BDCs made. Here it is. I hope this becomes a standard offering. It represents a kind of personal milestone to me- because during the original run of BDC's, the 'shrimp' offerings, I begged for a longer version. So did a quite a few of you. Uncle Bill was sick and new things were very difficult to get done, and those doing the work to get the BDC did not want to complicate the process with a longer, bigger version.
I thought it would be a run away best seller, and see it did not take long for this specimen to get gobbled.
The AK Cleaver is the real milestone for me. From the first, I saw the need for a straight edge on the AK Bowie- making it far more useful. Yangdu came through. The initial prototypes are not far away from perfect. I have to send a pict of the straightened edge to Yangdu so the Kamis can drop the slight rise of metal near the cho. For all I know, that may be a flaw left over from my second sketch, as when the first was lost I hurried to get another one out.
Once we get the completely straight edge, I imagine getting a thinner one, or slightly shorter one is not impossible at all. Yangdu is listening and getting things done.
You wanted a traditional bolster and we got it. The edges are more nearly convex than the saber grinds I saw three years ago.
Thank you, Yangdu for all you do. I know the days are long, and you do not have Bill's help. (at least on this plane of existence) Hopefully, someday you can get some help.
Anyway, I think 2006 is going to be the Year of years.
You dogs never had it so good.
We might as well start asking for Hanshees, huh? It's time.
