My father is still in hospital and I will go visit him this afternoon.

Sure nice to see a DOD post. Gelbu's and Kobra's oh my!

Good stuff.

Beautiful offerings today for true!

That is the biggest kobra ive seen, a kami Kumar king kobra lol

And i still need a camp knife, and dont have a GS either...
please take these temptation's away, they all call to me.

It's my wife's birthday today. I should buy her one of those kitchen knives...of course, I do 90% of the cutting in our house, so it would be a little bit like the episode of the Simpsons where Homer buys Marge a bowling ball with "Homer" engraved on it. So that probably wouldn't turn out to well for me;)

However, MY birthday is in 6 days. I better start dropping subtle hints now lest I end up getting a pair of jeans and a "nice tee shirt that doesn't have a comic book character or Star Wars on it.":D

Oh and that kobra is a BEAST
I have one made by Kumar circa 2003/2004 that I am pretty sure was designed to cleave through an incoming armored warhorse. It's only 32oz and 25". It's a monster. **Now, he's my disclaimer where I have to flat out in great detail tell you to NOT use the Kobra for what I did**

The summer I purchased that Kobra I was visiting my mom when a massive storm blew in and knocked over all manner of trees. I'm talking 40+ foot tall sweet gums just shoved over like a carton of milk. One of said trees fell so that my truck was completely blocked in by a 9" thick limb attached to a 20" across tree. I was blocking my mom in and the phone was out. So the only way we were getting out of there was to cut our way out.

My mom does not own a chainsaw. She's 4'10 and weighs maybe 85lbs. I didn't have mine in my truck, but I did have my new Kobra. Once again, PLEASE do not ever use a kobra like this. I took that 25" monster out and went to town on the tree limb. If I remember correctly, it took me the better part of 10 minutes, but I finally made my way through the limb and got it detached from the tree so I would only have to drag off a 200lb piece of wood rather than a 3000lb tree. I was able to get out and get my grandpa's chainsaw down the road so that we could clear out the rest of the debris.

A Kobra should never be subjected to that, and I knew full well that if I broke it, it was ON ME, not HI. That said, it came through with flying colors. Not only did I not bend it or break it, but it was still just as sharp as it had been.

Kumar knows how to make a blade.

Happy Birthday Jake in case I forget in 6 days.

I have a 25" Siru and a 25" Chitlangi, I have a spot for a 25" Kobra someday for sure.

They are surprisingly nimble. I thought they would be totally unmanageable but when I first held the Siru at Aunties, I knew that wasn't true at all.

I better see if I can find a T shirt for ya.

Happy Birthday, Jake! Uh....where's the cake?

Thank you, Bookie and Bawanna:p
I'm not there quite yet. Not until Wednesday. I got to tease my wife a bit. She's 6 days older than I am, so it's a yearly ritual. We're turning 35 this year, so I got to inform her of the mathematical property that she is now closer to 50 than to 20. She then started to point out my copious amount of "salt" creeping into my beard.

I think my wife is making us brownies this weekend. We've had a lot of cake lately, and I have been informed we are now on a diet. I think it's also because I have been teasing her for the last 10 years over The Saga of the Lackluster Lave Cake. Basically, when we turned 25 (our first birthday together as a married couple), she wanted to make a big deal about it. So got these massive steaks and baked potatoes and all these other fixings to go with. She also picked up a Lava Cake mix. For those of you that don't know what Lava Cake it, it's basically a chocolate cake that is kinda-sorta underdone but delicious as it a molten gooey mess in the middle.

My wife is an incredible cook. This wasn't her first rodeo. However, she didn't really read the description on the back of the box as to how much the cake made. What she had in her mind to be a large bunt cake turned out to yield enough to be called a portly cupcake. So after all of this build up, she sheepishly carts out this little gooey muffin for us to to split.

I should have been supportive, but the only thing I could get out was, "You did't happen to pick up some tupperware containers did you? I dunno if I can eat all that."

And THAT is probably why I don't get cake on my birthday...she usually buys herself a Red Velvet cupcake though;)

35? I was 35 once.........sigh

I clearly remember my dad's 36th birthday. I thought he was the oldest man alive. Additional sigh............................

Well, Jake, it's too bad you have salt in your beard. I ain'ta gonna ask why you put it in there in the first place and I cain't fathom why your wife don't give you a cake on your Birthday, either. But I do like cakes and brownies. In fact, if you trot over here to Corn Patch, I'll ring up Bawanna's old flame, Alice B. Toklas, and get her to show us how to make them big honkin' brownies she used to make for him back in the day. And that was a l-o-n-g time before he turned 35, too. I suspect if we do that, Ndog'll show up for the free eats. You know how he is when he gets away from Momma....

Hey, once upon a time there used to be a fairly regular Khukvention;) I think a lot of guys would show up for free eats:p

There's talks in the works of a khuk convention for next year. Was gonna do it this year but with all the bad stuff that's been going on, health issues, production and what all it was decided to wait a year.

I'll definitely show up when/if it happens but it won't be for the free eats, well maybe that too but mostly other stuff.

Ole Alice B, almost plumb forgot her, aww memories, or what there is left of them.

Is the khuk conv done before and where

Is the khuk conv done before and where

I guess it used to be kind of a regular annual happening. I never been to one myself, before my time.

I suspect most were in or around Reno someplace, can't say for sure. I imagine Howard or for sure Yangdu would know.
I have a little Bura knife that is claimed to have come from the 2003 convention.

Well, almost a week has past since this DOTD was posted by Auntie. Since nobody posted their desire for the 25" Kumar Kobra, I got weak in the knees and sent an EMS. Much to my surprise, I received the DD. It appears to be a real beauty to be welcomed by it's brethren.

Funny thing, I been thinking about that Kobra or trying to suppress my thinking about that Kobra more accurately all week.

Glad you gave it a good home. It does look like a fine one.
