Nice offerings today.

Unique Bowie, and that Purna Chainpure is really singing!

Ems sent for Purna chainpuri half an hour ago - could not post earlier as I was not logged in
Got the DD

I have a Purna Chainpuri and its a masterpiece. It's balance is superb, it's a pure fighting machine that is extremely well balanced do to the tang design. Congrats to the winner!

Looks like I just missed out, congrats kanano

Thanks SteveAus - hope the next one is your. I have a 15.5 one and liked it so much that I got this to keep it company.
It's still coming down under if that's any consolation!

The 15inch 15 ounce Chainpure Knife from Chainpure above looks superb as well and will be a real fast one - love the wood handle as well.
May be tempted if no one picks that up soon.
I'm trying to restrict my HI medication to just one daily dose but may have to make an exception!

How does the tang design differ from other khukuris

The Chainpure tang is a full length rat tail extending all the way through the handle and peened on the pommel end to a keeper to spread the load. The traditional style is a short tail that does not extend all the way through the handle. The chiruwa tang is a full length and width tang with two slabs of wood on each side. Steel sandwich if you may. If a chiruwa tang is done correctly and has proper distal taper (thinned) towards the keeper then weight can be reduced to make it feel much like the traditional style or full rat tail. All have their advantages depending on your intended use. The Chainpures like most of HI's non-chirruwa styles provide a bit of both worlds as far as strength, shock absorption, and balance. Hope I answered you question.
