Just out of curiosity what does YBB mean?

Your Best Buy. It usually means that Yangdu considers this the best deal of the posting. "Steel cost" also signifies an unusually good deal.

I always thought it was Yangdu's Best Buy but either works. These are all good deals.

That Siru is insane!! More of a sword than a khukuri at almost 30". And the price...well generous is an understatement

Thanks guys, that was my guess after thinking about it. If I hadn't been in meetings all day I would have been all over that Siru.

TLR you did great. That rhododendron wood is very cool. One of my favorites. It's super light, especially that piece, and if you take the time to sand/polish it up to 1500-2000 grit, you will see some amazing grain patterns. I have one piece that has a silvery shimmer in the right light!

Thanks for that insight SingleGrind. Did you coat it with anything?

I've been hoping for one of the longer/lighter models to pop up and the wood is a bonus. You see a lot of rhododendron flowers throughout Kathmandu since it is the national flower. Since this is the wood of that tree there is another bit of specialness in my mind. Happy to land this one!

I just used BLO on that one, but I recently got a knife back from Bawanna that he had coated with Tru Oil, and I like that too. The careful sanding is the important part that will bring out the grain

That Siru is , what a deal to boot! CONGRATS!

EMS and DD on the 9.5 inch 18 ounce Kerambit by Lachhu. Few hairline crack and slight shrinkage of horn handle. $58.

Lots of awesome steel today! That Siru is a rare one. Very nice.

TLR: That Reti is a very utilitarian blade for most tasks except heavy chopping but with HI blades being overbuilt for strength you will find this one of your favorites im thinking. I have one about the same size and it is my most used blade for carving shaving and even some light wood removal. Makes good rabbit sticks, atlatls, shaves darts etc. I love my KLVUKS but when I dont need to chop the Reti does it well. They are made from files so they have a bit higher carbon content than most other 5160 blades and have excellent edge retention. Grats on a fine blade:thumbup:

What Reti, I don't see no Reti?

Tru Oil or Linseed, both are good. The Tru Oil has some additives that give it a bit better protection qualities. The Linseed is generally thinner so it soaks in better.

Bookie turned me onto some other oil, it's similar to Tru Oil I think but quite thin and has dryers in it. I love it.

Just ignore ndog, he's clearly been hittin that jazz cabbage again as there ain't no Reti in sight! A nice Kobra though lol but to his credit, the Kobra and Reti are almost the same, other than the Reti is made from an old file. The Kobra is made from the same 5160 used for other HI blades, but is still just as awesome a knife. I've used my 20" Kobra to take out some vines and it worked great, though the swords were more fun.

A Reti? Where, where? Oh, It's a Kobra.

It's ok, we just joshing with Ndog, we all getting up in years, time to break out the reading glasses sometimes....:D

It is so thin I thought it was a Reti also. The WW2 is a good one. Perfect weight/length in MHO. Someone should snatch it.
