I have emailed this Yandu character so many times that i have lost count, NEVER EVER heard back..

I have GIVEN UP..

Sorry

Real nice M-43

Well? Ya gonna go for that M43 or whistle Dixie?

I might as well go for the full blame today. I take full responsibility.

That is a fine looking shawl apapercut, I don't want to blow my macho image but it looks nice.

Sean:

It's Yangdu, not Yandu. If you are also misspelling the email address it might explain why you have never, ever heard back. Yangdu has character, but it is disrespectful to call her "this Yandu character." If your emails to her are equally disrespectful, it might be another explanation for why you have never heard back. In case you have been misspelling the email address (which is given at the end of her postings in large letters), here it is: himimp@aol.com

If you have been emailing to order a knife, be aware that you have to be specific and you should give your shipping address in the email. If you have general questions I'm sure she will respond, or you can post your questions here on the forum, where people are quite helpful.

What davidf99 said. Yangdu (affectionately referred to as Auntie around here) is a class act and always responds to my questions and emails very quickly.
I'm still a raw rookie around here myself but I'd strongly suggest you increase your level of respect for her and by association this forum post haste.
Auntie is the key to acquiring these beautiful quality blades and she deserves utmost respect.
It's harsh but if I was a mod, you'd already be history.

This is taken from the top of the forum page: Sticky: How To - New Members Please take time to Read the : Himalayan Imports Link Library

"All DOTD items are sold "As Is" on a "First Come, First Served” basis, meaning that You must be the first to Email Yangdu at HIMIMP@AOL.com with your complete information, Including your Name, Forum name, Address, Item Wanted and Method of Payment. (if you do not provide complete info, you may be skipped over for the next person who has done so).
Yangdu will then confirm availability and you can send payment.

We only accept Paypal and Visa or Mastercard. We also accept check or money order, but these must clear the bank before shipment is made. Please see this sticky for more information on proper ordering: Ordering Information.

The Forum software has been notorious for losing Emails, so to expedite matters, please use your personal Email client and account when ordering."

All my emails have always been answered. Yangdu answered an email this morning. Perhaps you should check that you have the correct address.

Yangdu also has a telephone;)

I'd check the email address and double check the sticky at the top. I have never had an issue with Yangdu not responding to an email in the last 11 years.

Going to have to chime in here , I have to concur with the others on there posts. Coming in to a new place you should do some research before you post, especially when it is disrespectful to the owner of the company. As you can see we all have a deep heartfelt respect for Yangdu and HI. Double check what you are doing before you flame someone you don't know, perhaps it is your error. All in all not a good way to start out.

Sean Price, you should leave.

I went back and scrutinized Mr. Prices post and in addition to misspelling the name which could happen, I think I goofed it a couple times myself but I certainly meant not disrespect, I just didn't pay attention.
However the rest of the post and wording I find disrespectful and rude. Perhaps amends can be made, I hate the thought of anyone not having access to these fine blades but attitudes need to be adjusted.
Just the feeble and probably not worth much thoughts of a newbie khuk addict.
For what it's worth Yangdu and Karda as well are both on pedestals in my book and anyone wishing to try knocking them off with disrespect will have to go through me and I'm sure from the previous post there are other pedestal guards as well.

Auntie always replies in a timely manner, even if what you were looking for is sold, she will reply and let you know it is gone or that she has another one to sell you.

don't be such a drama queen..

You don't see posters like Steely_Gunz reacting like you, all feminine like.. He just told it like it is.. I respect that!

I will not give up on the daily specials and shall continue until I get one myself!

wish me luck!

Sean:

Back in your April 3rd posting, you disrespected Yangdu. In this posting you just disrespected 50 percent of the human race. And then you ask people to wish you luck. Good luck with that.

If this seems a bit critical, well, I'm sure you're, like, masculine enough to take it. Like.

First of all, I'm not Steely_Gunz. While he may choose to be diplomatic, I prefer to root out the weeds. Second, even after it was pointed out that it was YOUR fault for likely misspelling Yangdu's name in your email and referring to her as a "character," you still have yet to own up to your impudence with an apology to Yangdu and the HI community.

Now let's break down your backtracking. First you wrote:

I have emailed this Yandu character so many times that i have lost count, NEVER EVER heard back..

I have GIVEN UP..

Sorry

Then you wrote:

I suppose it IS a woman's prerogative to change her mind. How "feminine like." Your words, not mine.

So which is it? If you're gonna stick around here, be respectful and intelligent and don't be a moron. Check your information before typing, and double check them before actually posting. Otherwise, just leave and find a different forum to lurk around in. Just because we're on the internet doesn't give you free reign to be an idiot with all of the other respectful members.

If you do stick around, it's likely you'll be able to capitalize on a DOTD. But it's pretty unlikely that anyone is going to wish you luck with it.

Sean, like wow, dude! ;)
There are ways to express your frustration without going overboard. As was noted above, the odds are YOU screwed up, not anyone else.

Me, I hate e-mails, I'd rather get on the phone, if possible. I did so 2 times last week, had a coupla very nice conversations with Yangdu, went over a few options, and wound up ordering a 21" OAL Chiruwa Sirupate. At 15" and 850g, it should make a really wicked medium weight Khukuri. Yeah, I'm jacked about it ... :D
