Now that's a Sweet Pair....really like those Tarwar's and the Cherokee Rose has very nice lines...The Kami's works always amaze me.

woo you don't see a Cherokee Rose in horn very often. Very regal, very stunning. Great prices by the way:)

I agree about that horn on the Cherokee Rose. I normally prefer the wood handles, but that horn looks beautiful.

Exactly right. In 3 years every one I saw was wood. Very nicely done and super high polish on that horn.

Old style Tarwars are still being made ... Yipee!!! :D

Now just to get them back to old style weights of around 30 ounces too!

Both are so sweet - ahhh alas money is always tight - but if i spent to much and couldn't afford the gas to do my rescue transports with the dogs i would hate myself - :(

- i think i am going to build a fire pit and go to the junk yard and pull a bunch of Chevy and Ford truck springs and start trying my hand at banging hot steel - I worked with steel all my life grinding, welding and fitting just not forging -- couldn't hurt to try -- (i wonder how many i would have to ruin before i got one half as good as these )

maybe i wish i can find someone with skill similar to Bura ;) over here in VA or MD that would take on a willing apprentice.

Figuring out how to shape the steel wouldn't be the hardest part. Differentially hardening the blade properly would be pretty tricky I'm guessing, without hands on learning from a kami.

Wouldn't it be neat if we could get a western steel pounder over to Nepal to apprentice with some kamis? Bring a bit of their old methods back? I'm afraid it would not be a money-making proposition for the westerner, but the knowledge transmission between cultures would be very interesting.

It would probably require a translator and would have to be done at a remote village arun where the political ramifications would not be so great.

Sounds like the set up plot of a 1980's action movie. I'd see it!:)

I am in Alexandria but i drive down to or through Fredricksburg all the time doing rescue dog transports -

- i would do it simply for the knowledge adventure and culture -

- i worked many night shifts in the shipyards fitting one inch plate on bows of ships with a Spanish guy that spoke no English and i speak no Spanish but we worked together better than most crews that could understand each other verbally -- in the trades you dont always need to talk

email sent on the Cherokee rose

The western lead would have to wear a specially designed double crossdraw khukuri shoulder rig, and the translator would be a young and beautiful Nepalese lass.

We're going to have to brainstorm the plot.

Thank you for giving a loving home for Cherokee Rose

it will be well taken care of - it may turn out to be a birthday present for my son. I think he would like it as much as i do.
