Say, is there a difference between the baby Ganga Ram and the Baby Ganga Ram special, or are they both essentially the same thing? I'm confused- this one looks similar to the one from 4/25 and they're both about the same length/weight with similar handles, but that one is not listed as a "special."

so, i talked myself out of it ... but what's going on with the sher special? what do people use one for? it seems good for zombies maybe, or collecting grass and wheat and barley. chopping? how thick?

Eric (Eswartz),

Are you still keeping track of the Pen Knife stats?

Is today's the lightest so far?

I'm keeping track of the 15" Pen knives. This is the regular 12" Pen Knife, of which I have a number of, too. Too many of those have gone by to keep track of. :)

But, as far as the 12" knives go, this is one of the heaviest.

Eric,

Thanks. I really had not been that interested in the Pen Knives, compared to the other more 'traditional' (if that is the right word) style Khukuris, but decided to take the plunge on this one.

I like the Pen knives enough to have bought a number of them. My only problem with the 12" standard size is that many have too small a handle to fit even medium size hands.

That is not the fault of the design (which, if you don't know, is by our own Daniel Koster, a.k.a. Pendative) I don't think, but just the kamis putting on smaller handles over time. Some are larger, some are smaller.

I like to see about 3.5" or more measured from buttcap to bolster (just the wood/horn part, along the side). Many come in at 3", which is too short for me. This one looks like it comes in at about 3.25" which can be ok.

Oh..., and you can flip pancakes with it. :)

Eric.

Eric,

Your information is much appreciated. I will have to try this one on for size to see how it might best be used. Perhaps I will assign it to kitchen/grill duty for starters. (There are several avid pancake fans in the house.) :)

Since this is a villager it might not have the non-stick properties needed for kitchen pancakes. And it would scratch a non-stick skillet.

I think HI is coming out with the teflon covered Pen knife any day now.

Eric.

What are some typical/recommended uses for a 12" villager Pen?

Thanks in advance.

Eric

They seem to have been deleted, or something. Luckily I saved them off.
