Excellent choice pyro, that's was my pick of the litter too. Congrats. Do share a report on your impressions when it hits your hands.

Thanks but unfortunately if I am lucky enough to get it it won't be in my hands for a couple or three weeks :( having it shipped to a US address and will have to go and pick it up

Problems shipping stuff like this into Canada? Importation or something? That's sad that you have to wait. Would drive me insane.

Nah just cheaper if I am already going to be picking up other stuff at the same time. Normally I get them shipped up here and it takes about a week. In this case I am already getting a bunch of other stuff shipped to near the boarder so it is cheaper to just ship to there and pick it up when I get the rest of the stuff

Those are interesting knives - a bit chunky for me but priced cheap. Bawanna - think taxes when considering Canada. Canada a 5% Goods and Services tax (like a VAT), Canadian Provincial Sales Tax (PST) and / or HST tax in some areas. A Canada Post $9.95 handling fee for each package that has been assessed with import duties and/or taxes by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and other Canadian Courier Custom fees on import packages. Pyro could explain what ones apply to him. I know when selling or buying on ebay it is more expensive and complicated to deal Canadian. That is why many Canadians drive across the border at Detroit, Vancouver and other border cities to buy US items and avoid the additional higher taxes.

Love the look of the maple on these bad boys. A bit of sanding and some boiled linseed oil, and I think they would just POP. I think the R-10 would make a fine hiking/bushcraft knife. Not too heavy, yet it's big enough to do real work. Looks like a nice blade to pair with a larger khuk.

Appercut on stuff like this unless it is a large order I don't normally have to pay any duty or taxes or Import fees

I normally get all my purchases from here shipped to Canada but if I a going down to the US anyways I can save a bit on shipping by having it shipped to the US. On something like this the price diff in shipping is about 11$. For larger knifes it is about 20$. I can generally get away with 100-200$ worth of items before they start to charge me fees and taxes

Good information - thanks.

Just to let you guys know. The handles on these are Hard Rock Maple and are very tough.
I received my gift from auntie and with a bit of sanding it is turning out beautiful. It has a very nice flame pattern in it.
Once I put on a few coats of tru-oil or something it should truly shine.

This is the beauty of villagers and blems on the DOTD. Usually with a bit of patience anf time, you can have a very nice piece that is all your own thru your own finishing work.

They really are gorgeous. You're right, Karda. The maple is crazy hard. The R-10 is a great all round sticker. Lots of condensed mass for a hard use hiking knife. I hope to have a write up this week.

I thought you guys might like to see what a few hours of work can produce from a villager item.
When I got it it looked much like #4 above.
First, I satin finished the blade, as it will be that way after I put it to use anyways.
A bit of sanding and some tru-oil and she's a beaut!
Very nice flame pattern all along the handle. Really sparkles under the right light.
Unfortunately, overcast skies make it so this picture doesn't really do her justice.

Red Flower tells me that this knife arrived. Sometimes it takes us a while to intersect with our packages. I hope to get a chance to see it this weekend. I'll let you all know what I think of this young kami's work as soon as I can.
