Sorry, Chambers. If you really want it though, I'd be happy to step aside so long as Yangdu hasn't already sent it packing and is willing to accommodate us. Actually, I had just come in from working on my Ang Khola handle project and was closing all my browser windows before heading to bed when I got the inkling to check the HI forum. Turns out it was just minutes after the deals were posted. I figured if a khukuri is calling me that strongly, I'd better listen!

This may be a good time to remind folks that they need to reread the safety thread
The new folks who have joined the HI family need to understand the limitations of the
different styles of kukri that is offered. different kukri were developed in various regions of Nepal to meet the needs of that locality.
Don't use a light kukri made for cutting vegitation to try and cut down a oak tree. Dont split kindling and drive your blade into the rocks. ect ect.
I have had the miss fortune of inspecting some of the kukri that have been returned to
Yangdu for exchange as defective. I have observed two that were defective due to kamis mastakes. The rest were damaged through operator being over zellous and not understanding their kukris limitations.
Yangdu has exchanged the kukris under the HI policy. As a community we need to take
responsibility for our own mastakes and not expect HI to replace a kukri we have dammaged by our own neglect.
Every kami who works for HI is one of the best in his field. Each kukri is a custom blade
produced to the best of his ability. they take pride in their work. Every kukri that is returned as being defective is a slap in the face and cost him time pride and money. When he puts his mark on a blade he is saying this is the best I can do.
When you look at cost we pay for a Kukri it is the best value on the market. HI markup
is very minimum When you condider the high cost of shipping these kukri to the U.S. from Nepal and the cost that HI incurs when the kukri is shipped to us by priority mail.
Let us as a community accept respomsibility for our actions If a kukri is defective by all means return it. If it is broken through our neglect then let us suck it up and eather repair it or get another one. Don't expect HI and the Kami to eat it they already have a hard enough time surviving.

(please reread the mandatory safty thread and if you don't understand it please ask.)
There are experts here who will be more than glad to help you.

Jim

That is very kind of you to offer and I do appreciate it, but not this time. This time it's yours. ;)
