After all these years (and all these Khuks!) this will be my first HI sword.

I have looked at them with great interest and no small temptation, but was waiting for some fairly specific particulars.

This one's got 'em. Now I got it. :)

You gonna be soooo happy! Congrats :thumbup::cool:

As the owner of two Tarwars, you are gonna love it...
that does seem to be double edged though, will look forward to your review Machete!

Would someone please hurry up and shark the Ganjwal and Chainpuri?!?!?

I'm grateful that nagod snapped up the Sgian Dubh but the Ganjwal and Chainpuri keep making me think that it would be fun to have some shorter, handier khukuris around.... :grumpy:

Custom 22" Ganga Ram Special... must keep focused on the Ganga Ram Special.... (He repeated as a mantra, trying to keep his acquisitive side in check.)

Who did the work on the scabbard for the Ganjwal? That is gorgeous. I haven't felt the worked out a good relationship with the traditional scabbard: the brass tip always poking me somewhere, or falling off after wearing it for a few minutes (a little glue fixes that of course).

But that new style scabbard is gorgeous. I'd be very grateful to see that craftsman do more work for Birgorka.

Good friend would like this one:

"15 inch 19 ounce Ganjwal with six tools by Dharan Kami. Satisal wood handle.
Beautiful Knife for your collection at $145."

Thanks

The leather/wood scabbard for Ganjwal is made by Dharan local sarki. Beautiful work!

I picked up a similar 'Ganjawal' khukuri when I was in India (Sikkim, which neighbors Nepal in the Himalayas). The leather & details on the scabbard are quite neat, excuse the poor quality pic:

They look identical, could it be they are from the same Kami?

Mini Tarwar arrived today! No time for comments about the item itself- just enough time for a "Thank you Auntie!" and a "Dang that was fast!" :D

Don't know but I wouldn't discount it. Dharan is in Eastern Nepal, which borders Sikkim (India), and I know that this one was made in Nepal and brought in to be sold in Sikkim. So at the very least, they may have been made in the same area. They are very similar in style - it doesn't show in the pic, but my khukuri even has the three-prongs on the pommel buttplate.

I got the ganjwal from the 25th. This khuk is just ....WOW! The spine is 5/16, brass strikings on it, great handle and it's.......peppy....zippy....sharp....has wonderful lines....feels right in my hands.......beautiful and dangerous.

Reminds me of a good woman.

This one will be inherited.

The Dharan Kami's got it goin' ON~!
