I love that ASTK. The white metal appeals to me for some reason.. Does anyone know about the history of it that Yangdu speaks about. I imagine that it has something to so with the ASTK itself, or the Kami (Lachhu) who made it, but I'm not sure. Either way, nice knife, and Nice score on the BAS...

Ahh I quit trying to resist. Email sent on ASTK. I love Satisaal and I love Lacchu's work.

Falar,, Nice pickup on the ASTK.. You have the HIKV... I have it myself... I'm not sure what's gonna get rid of it either.. I'm looking at all the different styles that Himalayan Imports has, and am trying to design the perfect Khukuri that works best for me.. I see a custom order being called in real soon... There just so practical.. I'm angry at myself for not seeing it earlier... Well anyways, it's never to late..

I have the twin of this ASTK. Same length, weight, handle and kami. It's pretty much the perfect knife. Strong enough for heavy chopping, light enough for self-defense, a good length and very good looking.

FYI, there are two versions of the ASTK. The version from a few years ago has an unusually thick tang, which makes it heavy but very well balanced. The newer versions, like this one, have a tang similar to the one on the CAK -- very strong but not overkill. That's why the newer ones are 6-9 ounces lighter and easier to handle for extended use. Both are very nice but I think the newer, lighter model is more practical for most people.

For comparison, here's a review and picture of the older model:

I bought an identical length/weight ASTK by Lacchu from the 7/20 DOTD..........but this one has a Satisaal handle instead of Neem, which I definitely prefer. The edge needs some work on the one I already have, I need to learn how to sharpen it/profile it properly. Man that "old ASTK" looks like a beast! Now I want one..............

Email sent on the Ganga Ram special by Lokendra Kami. I've been trying to replace my stolen 12"AK with something a little bigger for a while. Hope I got it.

I hope the one I ordered came in that shipment too!
