Ouch, you're killing me Auntie! I want both of those. But I just bought two others! That carving is unbelievable.

WOW! This is the biggest, heaviest, and most exquisite (and most expensive!) YCS I have ever seen so far. It is a perfect collector's piece by the great Tirtha Kami! I would love one of these in the 16"-17" range one of these days.

I wonder what the specs on this DC are? Perhaps roughly about 18.5" OAL and 35oz? I may be way off.

Wouldn't you know it, my next future purchase is between a Dui Chirra and a Berkley Special. After a DOD shark attack and special order I'm tapped out.......mercy.
At least now I've got good reference pix to send to Auntie for a future Dui order.

Beautiful work on that YCS, if it's still available on payday....:D
I'm sure it will be long gone, it looks amazing

Beautiful blades. Unhappily, I live on the other side of the world, where because of the the time differernce, I cannot bid in real time. As well, every purchase needs a Police form to purchase an "Prohibited Weapon" , in addition for Ministerial Approval for importation of said weapon. I never made the rules, but have to live with them. Now you know why West Aussies do not impact on DOTs. I would bid on many offerings, yet time and rule of law mitigate against me. Hoo Roo, Mike.

Mikejames, as a fellow Perthite I've been ordering Kukri from several different countries for the last 5/6 years and never had any problem with either Australian Customs
or Police. There are more than a few forumites from W.A. who have the same experience. As far as "prohibited weapons" go, that applies only to Victoria as I know it.
Even then, it's for things like balisongs, double edged blades and in some states (I think) clip point blades. The Customs guys usually open my boxes for inspection and
leave a leaflet inside, then re-seal them after they realise it's a kukri.

Auntie's DOD's usually get posted on BF between 2p.m. and 4p.m. U.S. time, which equates at about 5a.m / 7a.m Perth time , so no problems there either. Just set your
alarm clock for 4.45 a.m. and make a coffee, turn on your computer and join in the fun.
"Ministerial Approval" ? , there's no such thing in ANY Australian state or territory. someone's been feeding you porkies !!
One last thing, my Cop friends love my blade collection !!

that is a real bummer -- the bidding though i think you should do ok - if you send an email and post that you did most members here will honor that and let you make the purchase with out trying to send an email behind yours - usually just have to wait for Yangdu to confirm it with you -

- actually i didn't plan on getting this one someone told me it was here and i figured it was gone but came to look and - there she was  --- a while back i decided i would stop buying any more for a year - - not sure what happened - - but either way i am sure i will enjoy it when it gets here - :) -

I bought a dragon carved 20-inch YCS By Vim that came in at 51 ounces (along with a M43 pre-UB by Kumar) from a fellow on another forum in mid-2008. It's a tank, with a 1/2-inch spine; the M43 was fast and nimble in comparison.

Those of us with experience in the area know that a year of "not" is more than we are able to commit to. Best to take it 1 day at a time. Congrats on that really wonderful piece and regrets on getting sidetracked from your goal;)

Thanks for the encouragement - bric - well it was just one of those ideas that i have every now and then but know in the back of my mind i probably won’t make it that long –
- but at least it did give me a few months of not buying any knives so I am sure when I get this one will mean more and I have been wanting to get one of these YCS blades for a while

Besides I really feel good about buying from HI – not only do I know that the product is made with pride and craftsmanship -- someone useing thier hands and skill instead of someone programing a CNC mill – but what really feels good is knowing that the money I am spending goes to help people who are really in need – it feels like I am donating money to help people and getting a nice gift in return

the YCS came a couple days ago - this thing is huge - it dwarfs the 20 inch (CAK) Chirwa Ang Khola that i bought last year - it came fairly sharp and in 2 minutes work i had it shaving sharp -- the two knives that came with it are fantastic as well -- thanks to Yangdu and Tirtha

Congrats Erik, that YCS is a thing of beauty! A real treasure.
