Congratulations heinlein. That's a nice khukuri you grabbed. Welcome to the Forum and hope to hear more from you.

Very nice Foxy Folly, and by Vim too! Great catch.

Tirtha Kami is really making some very nice Farm knives. This one has a totally different character with the horn handle. Blends nice with the black blade. But I like the wood handle too...

Congratulations heinlein. That's a nice khukuri you grabbed. Welcome to the Forum and hope to hear more from you.

Thanks stickfred. I also want to thank warty for his useful thread. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=764672
Following that advice I had an email started ready to add the details; but then I started to read other threads. When I noticed the DOTD over 10 minutes had elapsed. I'm surprised I got it.

I had researched a little to see what style I wanted and attempted to discover which kamis are well thought of. Since I will soon be the proud owner of a Murali Kami; I focused my searching and found some cool stuff including an old DOTD thread of 4 of his village Khukuris including a handmade flute with each one. I thought that was pretty cool. I will wait until I get the one I ordered today; but if I like it as much as I expect to I will jump on a deal like that if offered again.

That horn handle on the farm knife sure looks nice, I'm surprised it hasn't been grabbed yet. I'm curious how it might handle in comparison to the standard wood.

heinlein, welcome to the forum you have a lot of fans here already even if you are 22 years in the ground, I mean ashes spread at sea:p
Nice Murali Bonecutter you picked up at that price. I was driving when that got posted so you got lucky. I have one of the 4, 12" CAK's with the flute's. I just need the time to post the re-handle job I did on mine. I've got 3 separate blades by 3 different Kami's they each have their own character and all are excellent blades. Enjoy it but don't be afraid to use it hard, they like that:D
Again welcome aboard

Well Heinlein, you are welcome, that was the whole purpose of that thread and why it is in my sig. :)
Glad you found it helpful and good to have you with us here now.

It's a fine group of folks here so if you need anything, just ask.

I hadn't realized it had been that long; time flies when you're dead. I've enjoyed the books for many years. About the only thing I regret is discussing religion with L. Ron Hubbard.;)

If I had been a member back then I would have been tempted to buy all 4 for Christmas presents; but I probably wouldn't as scooping up all of them wouldn't make me too popular I imagine.

Oh yeah, love my classic scifi. Currently reading The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. Welcome to the HI forum!

heinlein, don't worry about grabbing all of them at once Warty does it occasionally and we don't hate him we just give him dental problems and crash his ISP:D
I've read about everything written by or about R.A.H. and I haven't run across any references to L. Ron Hubbard or Frank Herbert. If you can recall any references please shoot me an email or a PM.

The Villager farm knife by Tirtha is still here  patiently waiting for an oldstyle/reissue 15" Bonecutter or a Tarwar to show up

7rip13a, a hardback signed copy of that book off fleabay might just bump my next khukuri purchase if I find the right one. I've found that you can buy used hardbacks delivered off ebay cheaper than you can buy new paperbacks at the store.

The Moon is a Harsh Mistress is one of my favorites. As far L. Ron is concerned there are a few versions of what happened and what role RAH played. According to some people RAH and LRH met in a bar and LRH was bellyaching about how getting paid a penny a word was ridiculous and the way to make a million $ was to start his own religion. Supposedly RAH Challenged him to a wager of who could start a religion and get rich first. Stranger in a Strange Land was RAH's supposed attempt. There are five documented cases of LRH making variations on his penny a word is bad; religion = $$$ speech. Some people say since there is no record of RAH being present at the five documented cases the bet never happened. It is my thought that bitching about a penny a word; and getting rich through religion was a very common topic with him. It is known that RAH and LRH were friendly.
Frank Herbert was one of my favorite authors; to the best of my knowledge he is not linked to either RAH or LRH other than as an SF writer.

After I wrote it all out I noticed that I was supposed to reply through email or PM. Sorry if I'm thread-jacking.

Getting back on topic the Villager Farm knife looks like a heck of a knife; but I would just use it as a kitchen chopper and I can't justify that much $ even for a great chopper when I've already got kitchen knives.

No worries about the thread hi-jack, I'll fix that here. HI does make Kitchen knives http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=606180&highlight=munk+chunk And Yangdu posted a few pics of Pala making chicken dinner with a Khukuri.

The stories you have there weren't in Grumbles from the Grave or Requim so I'll have to do some digging.

Thread Bump; Horn Handled Villager Farm Knife is still avaliable I'm happy with my choppers for now and need sonmething thinner somebody please grab this before you hurt killa_concepts feeling:p

Well out of consideration of killa_concepts feelings (and the Steely_Gunz review), I went ahead and bought it.

Nice grab Heinlein
I have the following R.A.Heinlein titles for sale; The Cat Who Walks Through Walls, Red Planet, To Sail Beyond the Sunset, Time Enough for Love, I Will Fear No Evil, & Variable Star (Technically Spider Robinson but based on a full outline from RAH). PM me for details.

Oh come now - considering a sketch I had no expectation of getting turned into a design actually got turned into a product, I'd be silly to not have a smile on my face. The fact that people dig it and that they've actually been selling relatively well is just icing on the cake

Yaaaay :D
Hope you enjoy it! The wait for mine is killing me :(

I have some favorites with me but since I am now living in my toy hauler I mostly restrict new literary purchases to e-books for my Kindle.

It's got to be cool seeing your sketch transformed into 3-D and knowing people are using your idea.
