That bolo is just about the perfect example of an HI version of the highly functional knife:)

I've always been tempted by them, but I have never had the money to pull the trigger when they are offered. Beautiful work:)

I think the spine thickness of the Bolo is thicker than 1/8", should be 3/8" to 1/2".

Hi Yangdu, can you clarify?

Best Regards,
Ted

while i was planning on a 22 inch bonecutter... someday, sadly, a kaossilator was my first priority this week.

i'm DEFINITELY awaiting the short bonecutters. so cute!

I've always wanted a bolo, but they are so rare here on the DOTD. Tonight as I was wistfully looking at the red SOLD stamp, I realized I don't know why I want one other than it looks so solid.

It has a completely different shape than a Khukri, so therefore must have a different purpose. For those of you that own one, what have you found it to be perfectly suited for?

Sometimes it's worth emailing Yangdu even if the item is sold. ;) I love my bolo. ;)

IIRC the term "machete" often follows "bolo" making me think it's geared more towards soft vegetation, while being capable of chopping wood better than a normal latin machete, whereas a kukri is optimized for heavy chopping with some ability for soft vegetation.

+! on emailing Yangdu anyway, sometimes she'll have multiple pieces. You may or may not get the DOTD price, that's up to her.

Thats how I snagged my Bolo a few years ago for a really nice price.

Since conturing the handle to fit my hand and working the edge over, I have not had the chance to use it except on some milk weed and other really light brush. Seems to work well. I'll be testing it this weekend then start my own thread about it. :) The HI Bolo is a sweet blade!!
