Finally I'm first to a DotD thread and there're no prices. ;) Probably better that way. :)

Wow! Six outstanding pieces. The Tarwar on top is as nice as the one that Sweet got a couple of weeks ago. Bura Hanshee? on the left, then Malla?, Pen knife, ????????, then finally a Kumar Karda with exceptionally nice antler.

Boys, If I had the cash I'd just take them all.

That upswept tip on the tarwar is beautiful. Looks like a walnut handle, too. Wow.

That pen knife was nice. Looks like a sibling of the black handled one from yesterday.... I'm hoping another of those pops up.

The M43 is unusual in that it has a longer than usual handle. It would be great for one of you guys with big mitts. I have one that just barely fits my small hands.

I'm full of joy, got confirmation on the Pen Knife! I've always thought that a wood handled villager model of the Pen Knife would be about the ultimate small user khuk/camp knife. Paired up with my Kismet Practical Hunter, that'll about cover my outdoor cutlery needs. 'Course if you walk into base camp, you may find my 18" Sher Villager AK lurking near the wood pile. ;)

"Small hole in leather scabbard", shucks, what's a fellow to do? Bwahahaaaa

I think that "Villager Special" is a really nice design!

PS I am really glad they saw fit to include the thumbs up emoticon!!!

Sarge?

Now all you have to do is get a Schrade 80T pocketknife and you can join the Raghorn/Kismet lost-in-the-wilderness crew.

I still have the Pen knife you carried in Afganistan, rusted by monsoon, scoured by Afganistan sand, and proudly owned.

Uh Kis? Shrade 8OT? Them's standard issue to country boys. Have had one in my knife arsenal ever since I took a shine to the one carried by my old scoutmaster back in the mid-70's. Good knives, easy to hone up shaving sharp, and hold a pretty good edge. I do prefer the smaller 34OT for whittling though, easier to do detail work.

Yep, that is a beauty. Bura makes the bext M43's IMO, and very few of them. Only 3 or 4 that I have seen. That one is 2 inches longer and 4-5 ounces heavier than standard, and the first I have seen with 3 handle pins. Should be "hell for stout" as my old man used to say. On his BGRS's and his M43's Bura has shown that he understands the need for a handle longer than the standard 4.5".

I hope we see more of these!

Regards,

Norm

Cool, I got the Kumar Karda  I got the the last tarwar that was posted
as a DOTD and let me tell you, it is one fast blade. You might think by looking at it that it would be good for clearing brush, but once you hold it you know it is a weapon, made for fighting. It is one of the blades I don't bring out to show guests. Whoever gets this one will be very happy.

I've got one of the Tarwars made by Bura. Handles like a large, heavy bladed machete, and will handily fell small trees in a manner so casual as to be frightening. If you're looking for a marshal arts blade, you might be better served with an HI katana. The Tarwar is more of a hack and slash weapon ala early medieval/viking age broadsword/langseax.
Still, it's an awesome beastie, plenty handle room for a two handed grip, or more correctly "hand and a half", and swung overhead thus, would cleave a man from his crown to his breastbone. Yikes

Does that tarwar have a bit of a recurve to it or is it just me?

Missing this special stung a bit but the last thing I need is another sharp object. I'm running out of blood.
