I received this information on those Knives from shop manager Rajesh

Dear Yangdu didi.

Regarding Bale khukuri and Dheradune .

These both knifes made by new kami Tertha. According to him these both knives famous in Dharan. He has only tried to make replica version.

Bala knife famous in Dharan and its remote area their villager kamis use too to make these knifes. Its blade is very similar to our chitlangi model. Handle is carved and looks liked Cockshead/ cockscomb.

Dhreradune knukuri model came to Dharan from Dheradun India. It has not any specific history but Kamis supposed that these knives used in Indian army camp.

Thank you,

Rajesh

Beautiful....I almost had a heart attack, I miss read the price on the HI Bale..I thought it said $75.00...good thing I re-read it...well worth $275 but out of range for someone who has been unemployed for over a year.

Good catch saxon. Love the handle/blade art and a very nice blade shape!

HI DERADUNE KHUKURI BY TIRTHA

Nice one. I like the subtle carving in the handle. The handle also looks like it's well contoured.

I just want to add that the Bale khukuri is a work of art. No way I'd be able to use that one.

I really like the profile of this one and the matte finished handle gives it a little vintage touch.

Awesome. I just can't justify spending that much for one fabulous blade when I've already spent well over a grand on DOTDs in three weeks.

Some interesting new models. Looks like Rajkumar Kami isn't the only one with mad woodcarving skillz.:)

Wow, kami Tirtha has really shown the breadth of his talent here. That Dheradune exudes villager simplicity and function. The bolster and spine work look artistically rustic, yet clean.

The Bale displays painstakingly creative detail. I was staring at the pommel trying to figure out the brass work and it kinda looks like a stylized bird head w/ a crown or something? Beyond the obvious carvings and fittings the proportions and lines of the blade are gorgeous. Makes me wanna use the word "wield"...an odd word for my everyday vocabulary, but yeah lookin' at it makes me wanna F'n wield it! Or maybe just put it in a glass case to admire.

If only I'd of saved my khukri pennies and was not waiting delivery on five of the things already. I can't believe that this DOTD is still available hours after launching. That Bale is gonna be a collectable.

Edit: Went to reread and the Rajesh person did state it is a "cockscomb/cock's head".

I'd buy that Bale if I wasn't so broke. It is perfect for what I am wanting for the collection.

Thank you for giving a loving home for Bale and Dheraduene
