The curve on the sirupati is pronounced. What is the traditional use?

Still hungry but these aren't what I'm interested in. Certainly not complaining as I've done pretty good in these DOTDs.
 
Tear-Shaped Sirupati by Lok Kami to use the vernacular "that boy haz mad skilz" to take a straight piece of 5160 and forge it into a u-shape that beautifully crafted! Doesn't look like YOUNG SHER is backing off any either. Is the scabbard on the HI-DER HAUSWEHR black or brown?
I'm looking to go smaller not larger but still pretty to look at.
 
That Siru solves the age old problem of whether to chop or stab. That'll do both at the same time!
