OK, this should be fun...
In your Wilderness/Survival letter to Santa, you can ask for one, and ONLY one piece of survival gear.

The restrictions:

-You must be able to carry it with you while hiking, canoeing, backpacking.
(Can't ask for a Sea-plane, for instance).

-Under $500 retail.

-Has to be Wilderness/Survival related. (knife, compass, backpack, etc).

OK, Ready , Set, Go....

"Dear Santa I would like....." what??

Cool thread!

Duluth "Nessmuk" pack.
Garmin GPS (Im still using my marbles compass and topo/trail maps)
Charles May "Big Hand"
I need a good one man tent, just haven't found the one yet. I'll go with Survival Santa's good judgment.

This could go on forever!!!!!!!

I did exactly this. A Garmin eTrex Vista Cx. That's all I asked for this year.

For my birthday this year, I'll be asking for binoculars. :)

$500??????

What I want only costs $5, I think I could survive for the rest of my life with just a little powerball ticket.......... with the winning numbers on it. Chris

Good thread idea Skunk  Right now I would say a pair of Atlas BC 24 snowshoes or a pair of La Sportiva Makalus :)

ATC LaGana Tactical Tomahawk, a space blanket, matches, a case for the matches, a compass, tons of MRE's, and some rope.

QUALCOMM GSP1600 Satellite Phone Demo model

$495 :D

" Hi honey. Could you swing by and pick me up. I seem to be lost... I called the pizza joint on the corner and placed an order. Could you pick it up on the way?" :p

If I need to explain you wouldn't understand.;)

mewolf, the rule states that there is a $500 max.

Please tell me where you can find that for under $500 and if it is available for that price, does it have a MUTE button? :D

I would ask for a Maxpedition pack that would suit my needs ( I'm really not well versed on their product line, don't know the models.)
That would nicely round out my setup.

I havn't had a pot to piss in most of my life , but I have had my share of "those". I can take quite a bit of prattle under certain curcumtances.:D
Charm is all it takes. :D

We're talkin "Santa" wishes;)

i would have any type of fixed blade a good one... i think a WSK might be a good one. Mewolf1 good choice hehe

Oh maybe one of those traditionally styled Scandinavian knives with a beautiful handle, blade and sheath, with a nice brass horsey head on the end of it. Something like this:

Just for the fun of it :D
