Dear ZT,

Why, oh why do you locktite the crud out of the pocket clip screws?!?! Seriously. This is ridiculous. I just received a 0452 and I tried to move over the pocket clip to the left side because that's how I prefer to carry it. Nope. Both screw heads stripped upon my first attempt to loosen them. Tried taking a lighter to the screws to loosen the locktite. Nope. Solid as a rock. So I sit here frustrated beyond words with stripped screw heads and a right handed knife. Ugh.

You know using a lighter to loosen loctite is a terrible idea, right? Soldering iron. Much more control. Right tool, right job.

Never had an issue with removing ZT screws....

That is annoying, I have encountered that on several Kershaws. It is something they will correct via warranty, but that is a pain in and of itself. I really like how Spyderco never uses loctite on their pocket screws, although I did have a screw on Delica clip strip once.

Use a leatherman or just needle nose plyers to do it. I also had to do this. I was only removing mine to make it tighter.

That's unfortunate man. I've gotten to heating my ZT screws the first time I take them out on a new knife because of KAI's reputation of loctite'ing pretty consistently. I've never really had much problems, and most of the time the screws really didn't need to be heated. If you don't have a soldering iron but a lady around, you can use her hair dryer :).

I'd say send it to ZT and they'll fix it for you.

I couldn't count how many times my old ladies hair dryer has come in handy working on random things. I eventually just ended up buying a heat gun lol A good suggestion

You need a Wiha set of Torx Drivers. They are the most accurate and will not strip out your screw heads.

I also use Wiha torx bits. Never had a problem taking apart my ZT knives.

Can you confirm that you used a torx and not an allen bit? I just want to exclude this basic question from the discussion. I can't see the amount of loctite possible on those small thread screws for the clip to be able to hold the torque of twisting them off.
