Deassisted ZT 350 Question

I'm on my second ZT 350, and I have tried removing the torsion bar on both of them, but could never get them to open smoothly unassisted. Is there any trick to getting them to fly out with just the flipper? Without any wrist motion, I can only get the blade to open to about 90 degrees. I've tried adjusting the pivot, but I still can't get it to open like the ones I've seen on a few YouTube videos.

I tried de-assisting my 0350, and basically got the same thing. Maybe it's the weight and momentum of the blade, but my 0200 just flies out.

That's what I was thinking, but I've read a bunch of post about how people desserts them, and they work great. Makes me think maybe there's a trick to getting them to open easily.

I think it just depends on the knife. Some have better detents than others. My 0350 was not a good flipper when I deassisted it. Neither was my blur and plenty of people love their blurs deassisted.

Ok, thanks. This is my first and only flipper, so I wasn't really sure what made for a good manual flipper

Well it was never designed to be a manual flipper. If you want a manual flipper, I would get one that starts life as a manual flipper.

If you want to open your 350 fast why would you de-assist it? Whats the purpose/plus of removing the assist?

With the assist out they can be extremely smooth while being as fast and quite possibly faster. It also completely elimates the resistance while closing.

OP, if you have the DLC you could sand off the area between the washers and the blade. Might help a bit.

So that I can control the opening. I don't always want or need for the blade to fly out and make a loud noise. There are time when I'd rather open it slowly with the thumb studs. I also don't like the way assisted knives feel when closing.

Sand and polish up the pivot area of the blade. Did wonders for the deassisted 0350 I used to have.

I'm not terribly familiar with the 350, but if it has the standard ball detent, try and watch this video.about detent modification and see what you think...worked well for my Domino, only I used a dremel attachment instead of a drill

Thanks for the link. I just watched the video, and it doesn't seem like it would be all that hard to do.I'm a little hesitant to mess with it that much though.
