could someone please explain the difference in these two watches. There specs seem to be the same, they look identical, when you google one you usually get results for the other as well, but the debaufre is 100 bucks more. I know a few of yall have these watches so maybe you can help. I am really interested in getting one of these, great looking watch, and at almost $5000 less than the Rolex GMT they are pretty tempting, I just need to know which one to go with Debaufre or Steinhart.
Thanks

It is the SAME company. When Steinhart was in the name, it was Steinhart-Debaufre. There was some "issue" with the name Steinhart, and it was dropped; and is now JUST Debaufre. Therefore, there is no longer such a thing as Steinhart. MY Steinhart-Debaufre just say Steinhart on it. If I bought the exact same watch today, it would say Debaufre.

I have a Special Green Ocean 1 that I LOVE. I am wearing it as we speak. They are excellent watches. I highly recommend them.

What TKC said. I have a Steinhart Ocean 1, I bought before the name change. Great watch for the money.
If you go to www.bdwf.net Best Damb Watch Forum. You can get a lot of info there, plus Steinhart has a presence on that forum and used to give occasional deals to forum members on scratch and dents and the like. I got my Ocean that way and it was only 220.00. It was perfect! It is a great solid watch.

These are also sold under the brand names "MarcelloC" and "Robert". The Roberts have the lowest price in Europe. (290€)

Steinhart is still the name except in the US where there was an issue using it and they changed over to Debaufre. You can still order the Steinhart named watches from distributors outside the US but the landed cost will likely be higher.

Steinhart Watches website

Debaufre website

Steinhart distributor in Singapore.

Edit: On some watches, like the Triton orange face, there may be differences in the face other than just the name.

One other link - - lots of watch info on the forums at Watchuseek.
