I built this over six years ago and it is still standing.

thats pretty cool

not a bad feeling either to find you either got an isolated enough spot or the people been thru respected it enough to leave it alone

Good to see it lasted so long.

Just a reminder to newbies:
In a really cold area you would need much more debris on the inside.

I've made tons of shelters with grass and various types of evergreen needles for the brush. Some of the frames lasted for years, but more brush needed to be added from time to time. Some of the logs are still brown and there are a few green needles showing, I'm guessing that those are from repairs?

Looks like the side ribs making a solid support for the center pole. Great way of building it and you don't need to use or tree or another pole to get in the way of the opening. Nicely done

I have had to add more debis to it over the years as some of it has blown away. A recent storm knocked down some good sized limbs from the tree next to it, so I decided to spruce it up a bit.

Thanks for pointing that out. If it was very cold a door plug would also be recommended.

no sruce down here in tex. but if one can stand the allergies cedar would probably work. anyway it beats open air in the winter.--dennis
