today is the anniversary of pearl harbour. i hope alot of people remember the sacrifices that alot of fellas made during our countries wars. i dont know if we have any veterans on here, but i am sure we do. to each of u, i would like to say thank u. no matter what capacity u served, u still were there to protect my freedom and liberties. i wasnt around for WWII, korea, or vietnam, but i know what ya'll did echoes thru the years and has shaped what lives we live today. war veterans are my heroes, the toughest of the tough, the bravest of the brave, and the best damn group of people ever. i dont care what war u fought in, or if u even seen combat, in some way or another, u guys were there. thank u. as for WWII veterans, i understand it was a whole new ballgame, and alot of guys laid their asses on the line so that we as americans could be free and safe. thank u. i tip my hat today in rememberance of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for all of us. nobody wants to die, especially in a war, but alot have. words cant describe what i think of that. i hope that each and every veteran out there, no matter what, knows that i have so much respect and love for them. thanks to all of u.

I'll second that, God Bless all that have served our Country.

It has been said that "those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it". (or something like that) It is a sad day like this being remembered that is necessary for people to remember that not everyone agrees with our philosopies, and some cultures despise our freedom and way of life.

Hopefully it will not take another tragedy such as Pearl Harbor or 9-11 for people to remember the past and pull their heads out of the sand (or other places).

Thank God that there are men and women who are willing to put their lives on the line for alot of fat, lazy, demanding, complacent, and unappreciative Americans.

I, for one, will do what I can to ensure that their sacrifices were not in vain.

Couldn't say it any better than has already been said. THANK YOU to the Greatest Generation.

One of my biggest grips is, people want someone else to fight and die for their safety, their to coward to join in the fray. And when called upon, to fight, the soldiers are called baby killers, murderers and such. Some things just burn me up.
I joined up right at the very end of Viet Nam, but missed everything. Didn't even qualify as a veteran, got out, joined the AR National Guard for a couple years. I'm 49 right now, and totally out of shape, but would go back in a heartbeat if my country needed me.

i joined the us army in 1998, and served until 2000. never seen any combat, but i was dispatched to bosnia. i never had to deal with what vietnam vets dealt with, never had all the trouble you guys had, but my father fought in korea, and my step-dad in vietnam. the stories my step-dad told about vietnam were enough to give me nightmares as a kid. even if u didnt see combat mountainwind, thanks for serving just the same. i know alot of people feel left out, heck even i did at first, but i realised that we all served, if not in battle, we provided a sense of security to all civilians. to me, everyone who serves is a hero. i dont know nothing about babykillers, but i do know my stepdad told me that everyone over there was dangerous, so i dont hold nothing against anyone for what they done. when your ass is on the line, the first thing u think of is how thin that line is. it amazes me how many people will stand up and join right now if called upon. thats the backbone of our people. the strength that has built our country. i often wonder if i myself could be as brave as some of the guys who gave all. i havent the opportunity to find out yet, but if my country needs me again, i am ready. just remember guys, if it wasnt for the ones who fell, there is no telling what kind of flag we would be saluting, or even if any of us would be here today. sorry this subject isnt knives guys, but i just think that all our servicemen, war veteran or not, should be saluted. i have had many friends killed in iraq and afganisthan in the last few years. one was my roommate from ft. hood. he was married with 2 kids. this post is just to recognize the ones who have served and died with honor, and the ones who have served with dignity and pride, and the ones serving now. my hat off to all of u.

I retired from the State of Oregon as a Veteran's Representative. I have often had veterans in my office who said they never saw any action and didn't think they deserved any Veteran's Benefits. My reply was, "BS, once you sign your name on the dotted line you are government property. You may not have been in harm's way, but you were trained, able & willing to go. That is the biggest deterrent this country has, a ready trained & ready military."

To those of you who enlisted but never saw any action I say "Thank you." your readiness & willingness to serve no doubt kept this country free, just as much as those of us who actually served in a war.

To all who have served in a war for this country, I say, "Thank you!"

To those members of the "Greatest Generation" I say, "Thank you for your sacrifices, you kept us free." Because of your service I, & my children, have freedom. Thank you.
