decent nail clippers

I am in a never-ending search for a nail clipper that does a clean accurate job and is also comfortable to use. Best one I've found is part of a grooming kit, made by Rubis who I believe is in Switzerland. It's very good, but I'm hoping to find better.

Of course, the whole thing is pretty subjective, but I'm looking for other designs to try out.

I bought one from AG Russell. It's called the A. G. Russell Nail Nippers (part # 82055-AGR) and retails for $29.95.

Here's a picture:

I like it! It does, though, take a little bit of getting used to in holding/using it. The nail file portion moves freely and sometimes gets in the way. A minor issue I've adjusted to. Otherwise, it functioins outstandingly.

Thanks Ron. I do have that one, and I always feel as if I'm going to stab my palm with the nail file--or at least I constantly have to watch out for where it's located. The other annoying thing on mine is that the post or rivet that holds the spring is not flush with the bottom of the clipper--and it's just in the place where I want to put my finger for maximum leverage. So I end up with a nicely indented finger. I'm nitpicking, of course, the performance of this clipper is excellent. The ergonomics just aren't quite there...

What bothers me about every nail clipper I've ever seen is that they are shiny chrome, and the light glinting off them interferes with my view of the nail to be clipped.

That having been said, I have a large clipper, basically for toenails, but it works fine on fingernails, too. It has a straight cutting edge set at a 45 degree angle. It's a pleasure to use because it's so strong, stayed pretty sharp and sharpened up nicely on my Sharpmaker.

Unfortunately, it's hard to recommend because all it says on it is Made in Japan. No company name at all.

What you need is one of those "tactical" toe nail clippers in a non-reflective coating!

The Rubis clipper has a very nice matte silver finish.

Nail Clippers eh? Well I've never found a nail that a pair of SAK scissors or a nice rough patch of concrete couldn't take care of.

I need stealthy clippers
for stealthy nails
that leave no trails
like stealthy claws
that slash by night
my nail clippers
can not be bright
