I am looking for a decent, reliable set of bubblepack radios for camping, hiking, hunting, or emergencies etc. Feature I would like are

Water-resistant
Able to use AA batteries
FM/AM/NOAA Weather band capable

Looking to keep the price under $100.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Understand that the range listed is under ideal conditions !! Mileage may vary ,and be much shorter in the mountains !

I don't think I've ever seen GMRS radios that were AM/FM/NOAA capable, they do make CB radios with NOAA weather channels but even those don't have AM/FM.

fishiker, a few folks do it however Maritime VHF radios are restricted to..well, maritime use.

I caught Motorola Talkabout T7450 on closeout or just on sale at Cabela's years ago...4 AAs. Have been great radios for the prairie dog fields of WY for me..and the same for grandkids on our FL homeplace.

GMRS requires a FCC license which I obtained but understand that many scofflaws do not.

Even less of a radio guy than a knife guy but not so sure that you'll find AM/FM capability in hand-held two-way radios. Had other GMRS radios over time..some of the high dollar ones were excellent but many years ago had "traffic issues" with some LE use with small departments, special units or those with budget issues..kind of the "Car 54, where are you?" stuff.

Two-way radios have come a long way...our MP radios took up most of the trunk of a vehicle >60 years ago - transmitter, receiver, power pack..only slightly better than two tin cans on a string. Last LE radios I used were excellent, small, powerful, good clarity and range..and higher than a cats back as to cost.
