Decent user scimitar under $300..........?

I've seen this one http://www.thewebcollection.com/scimitar_sword.html

But can't seem to find any others that are not wallhangers or way out of my price range. Any suggestions? Comments on the Iberia on the link?

I'd also like some comments on scimitars themselves. Originally for horsemen? Disadvantages for on foot battle? How are the blades measured?

Scimitars don't seem to be all that favored as something that companies or makers are turning out. The only really good one that I'm really aware of is one turned out by a company called Raven Armory in England and they are over 1000 dollars and the wait is something like 2 years. I can't comment on the CAS version but I can say that there products are pretty much a grab bag. Some of it is decent some is not. I'd have to guess with that low price tag that this particular model probably falls into the latter category. With swords you typically get what you pay for. There is some guy that is posting over at SFI that makes scimitars maybe you can look him up.

Luck! Oh, and I have one of those CAS Iberia Scimitars. For the money I paid (less than $100), it's pretty good steel and a servicable handle. But it definitely is a "from horseback" sword.
