Check this item out. It looks like no Buck that I've ever seen.

Just want to caution the new collector that there are those few out there that want to deceive others just to sell an item.

There are many others that are selling exactly what they say, so you just have to take a good look at anything you are thinking of bidding on. Be sure to ask plenty of questions of the seller before you bid and do your homework.

Dave,
It is well known that "Buck" has become a generic knife term not unlike "kleenex", "coke" or "vaseline". I am not of the opinion that most of the people who refer to a junk knife as a "Buck" knife really mean to deceive. I am sure that there are exceptions, but most probably are just uninformed and a large folding knife is, in their opinion, a "Buck" knife. I even see fixed blade knives which are not made by the Buck company referred to as "Buck" knives. I have considered sending an email to some of these people to inform them but have always decided it was a waste of time. There are too many of them who have this lack of knowledge!!
The good side of this is that Buck Knives are so well known and so well regarded that the name has become the generic term. So I guess the Buck company must take some bad with all the good found in this situation.
Anyone else with a different take on the subject?

Larry is right on in his statement. This is not a new problem; in 1977 or so one California county passed a law against posessing a "Buck Knife". They even capitalized the K in knife! One they found out they had just legislated against one manufacturer they withdrew the law, but that is a good example of what happens. I did notice that the knife on ebay did not get any bids; let's do let the seller know in this case; he's sure to put it back on.

Yep, many people do call any lockback knife a "buck knife", but the thing that got me about this ad is the fact that they capitalized the words. Guess I over-reacted to it a bit.

The word "rare" is used much to often on eBay. Several weeks ago the Buck Story book was up for auction. The seller called it rare in his title and then had two more of the same books listed right under. I believe that ignorance is more prevalent then deception.
