So I've been wanting to do this since i got it and that black coating has been just begging me to strip it so today I gave in and to a trip to wallyworld for a can of stripper to let the games begin. This time I went with the large can of the gooey liquid instead of the spray stripper and OMG it worked much better!! With the spray I end up having to do 2-3 rounds of stripping in which it sits anywhere from 1-3hrs and then gets sanded until my hands are numb, but with the 'liquid' I just let it submerge into the pan for about and hour and when I checked on it all the black coating was wrinkled up like 90 year old skin. All I had to do then was rub it with a towel and 98% of the coating was off. Once I got to sanding with the 100grit I realized it was gonna take a while to get the pain in the ass areas in the holes of the handle so I decided to go at it with my dremel knock off. I should have known better since my bK11 came out a bit funky when I did the same thing, but I still used one of the wheels to grind off he remaining bits of coating and get it to a nice shine. But no matter how nice and slowly I went, I now have a ton of grind lines in it that I couldn't sand out with my 100 grit so if a more coarse grit might work I'd love to know. Other than that it looks okay. It still sports the OD green micarta w/ black hardware just until I can get a set of stainless screws that actually fit properly. So without further a-do, here is the newly shined BK2 and the rest of the Becker kids together in their newbie modded glory;)

Looks good. So does his big brother there.

Really like the OD scales with the stripped knife.

u strip inside the holes? lmao

''if ya cant see it from the road'' ;)

Looks good, i like that micarta on there.

Nice work. That 9 has one of the coolest patinas I've seen. ;)

It was a just an insanely stupid move on my part which was made even worse by my lack of aim. I missed the log I attempted to throw it in to and it went tip first into the concrete. I'm thinking of sending it to someone to have it re-profiled and have the swedge altered to make it look like a cross between the BK9 and BK10

Spray stripper work better if you use aluminum foil to wrap whatever your stripping after you spray!

Step 1 - don't grind or sand. Just strip the blade, be patient and let the chemical do it's thing. Then clean up with some 00 steel wool. Patina, oil, done.

See, now I had no idea about using steel wool. That's two good tips I've gotten in one day:thumbup: I'm really not sure what, if any, kind of patina I want to do on the bk2.
