Decided to order another Queen made Toothpick for my collection...

This new order of a Queen branded Toothpick should compare pretty well with my Queen made Schatt & Morgan Toothpick. I'm thinking that Queen vs. Schatt & Morgan, is very much like Tidioute vs, Northfield... similar, but one a bit more jazzed up in the aesthetics :-) I know the S&M has an ATS34 stainless blade, and this Queen will have the D2 carbon steel, which are both pretty highly regarded :-)

Another great addition to your collection. I envy you sir I wish I had your money in order to accumulate such a vast collection of beautiful knives.

No rich man here... but currently involved in this hobby only. So instead of drinking much in bars (though I have my glass or two of wine every now and again), or cigarettes (I quit 15 to 20 years ago), or other "hobbies"... I place those few bucks on this sort of thing... A hobby that helps me keep my sanity. I actually really put a focus on traditional pocket knife collecting about 4 to 5 months ago. My mother had been given months to live, and this hobby gave me something to help deal with things. It was fun and gave me something to zone out on and gave me an outlet from the dark reality that I was losing my best friend, my biggest ally, the person most influential in my life... my mother. Mom passed away a couple weeks ago, and the hobby will continue in her honor, and to continue to help in giving me a fun diversion from life's realities.

I think your reasoning for your hobby is great - not that it is anybody's business anyway. I also just started out with this hobby a few months ago due to a life changing event but I'll leave that for another thread another time.

I owe this forum a photo of my Case damascus mini-toothpick, but I can tell you it is a high quality knife. It has two blades.

No... No Case Toothpicks.... but maybe someday :-) I like Case knives... and I stay away from the "easter egg colors"... as another member put it ;-)

Coaltrain... I think that our S&M toothpicks are basically the same size pattern whether Queen or S&M... But of course the S&M getting the extra embellishments (nicer bolsters, stainless steel blade, blade swedge) and other such things. So, I think dimensions will be roughly the same. I can tell you I have a Queen Copperhead with the same jigged amber bone that is on the toothpick that I have on order.... and it truly has a great nolstalgic look about it... right out of the history books look :-) I will take a pic of the copperhead to give you an idea of what I mean... though you may or may not agree, of course :-)

Here is my Queen Copperhead with D2 carbon steel blade (bottom), alongside my Queen Classics Doctor's knife (above). The bone on the Copperhead is the type that is to be on my new toothpick order... and if it compares at all with the copperhead, I will be very happy! :-)

Proper Queen name for this bone: Aged Honey Amber Stag Bone

I think when/if I ever go for another toothpick, it may be for one of the Case tiny ones. I would not mind one of the pocketworn ones (in non easter egg color!)... That easter egg color thing cracks me up! ;-)

The Aged Honey Amber Stag Bone looks very nice in your pic. I've shied away from that knife in toothpick form since the small pics I've seen of it didn't do much for me. Your close up pics has helped a lot - looking forward to seeing your new toothpick.

I guess I should get off my butt and take a couple pics of my Case toothpicks for you to see before you order a tiny one........

Yes.... Pics would be cool! Hey, you already made me buy that S&M toothpick after having seen pics of yours.... so I must hesitate any more of your tempting me!!! lol! But.... can't hurt to take a peek... let's see some pics! :-)

Btw... your pics of your S&M were so nice, I "borrowed" one of them and placed it up on my fb page as my background pic (true story) :-)

easter egg colors?

the best looking thing ive seen in this thread so far is that doctors knife. ymmv.

Oh, and btw, Coaltrain.... Queen makes a tiny toothpick with the same Aged Honey Amber Stag Bone.... so the possibilities seem endless... though our monies are not! lol! :-)

Ahhh... did a little research.... the above "easter egg colored" knife is made in china and branded with the Rough Rider name. Hmmm... neat, and even though they make some nice looking knives in non easter egg colors, I pass on the chinese made knives. Again, they may be decent knives, but I already feel overly surrounded by chinese made products, and so have decided to keep chinese out of my pocket knife collection :-)

... and this Queen will have the D2 carbon steel,

Congrats on the new knife. I do favor that amber bone stag.

But, D2 is about as far away from being a "carbon steel" as it gets. Technically, D2 can be classified as "stainless", because it has a nominal 12% Chromium content. It it isn't very stain resistant, and some of the fellas do manage to get it to patina if they work at it enough. But "carbon steel" it is not.
