You guys have succesfuly conviced me to go for the 710HS. I went to my local Knife Shop yesterday and I was amazed at the prices. The 710HS is going for somewhere in between 150.00 and 180.00! I would just go somewhere else but it's the only knife shop in Vegas. I guess I'll just get one from Bayou Knife Works. My next order from them should include the 710HS, a Sharpmaker 204, and a LM Micra. I was also wondering if I should get a 705HS or a 710HS.


P.S. The 710HS is only 120.00 shipped!
 
The 705 and 710 perform very differently. That inch of blade makes a big difference.

If the 710 is legal by you, that's what I'd get. But lots of folks swear by the 705 as well. A little small for my already-small hands, I thought.
 
Both are certainly very good, but all things being considered, I would recommend going with the larger 710. IMHO, the individual elements (handle thickness, blade size, lock size, etc.) that make up the 710 seem better proportioned with respect to one another than is the case with the 705. I share in the opinion that the handle and lock size on the 705 has a tendency to overpower the blade. Beyond that, I think you'll come to appreciate the added versatility the 4" blade of the 710 affords the user.
 
I have a CRKS M-16 that is just over 3" in blade length. if possible, I'll never get a folder this small again. The handle isn't super comfortable, and compared to my circa 4" blades, the 3" blade is "too" small. It is a good thing you asked about size! Size DOES matter in knives.

Good thing for me the M-16s come in longer lengths. And with a green handle too! I must pick up one of these some time...
 
Jeff, I have smaller sized hands, too. I'm 59 and shoot M1911 .45s alot. I also own a large number of BMs - see OUCH on the BM forum. My point is, get something that comfortably fits you now, when your hands become larger, you'll want a larger knife. After a while, you'll want to carry something smaller in your pocket. You will go into your knife drawer (you will have one!!) and find that ol' small knife you forgot about and it may well become your dependable EDC !! You will end up with more knives than you can carry, just because you're here with us!!!!!!
