Deciding between a classic and regular Sebenza

Well, I'm gonna do it, I'm gonna buy a Sebenza. It's the only way I can get a true left handed knife that is the right size and that will last forever (I just got a 806D2 and it would be nearly perfect if it was about and 1" to 1 1/2" shorter). I'm gonna get a plain small Sebbie but can't decide on the regular or classic. They both look equally good to my eyes, and other than a slight blade shape difference and grooves on the handles, what are the differences between the two? Which you you recommend? Thanks.

Unlocking the blade with the classic is easier because of the cutout. If that is a concern to you go with the classic. The blade on the regular has a little more belly which may be a little more advantageous if you're a hunter. My personal preference is the classic by a narrow margin. Either way you can't go wrong.

Good for you dylan, you won't be sorry. I just got my second Sebbie earlier this week. Like my first it is a small regular Sebbie. However this one is plain whereas the other one has a unique graphic. I prefer the regular design because of the blade geometry and the groove pattern around the thumb stud cutout on the handle. I've attached a thread from the CRK forum that addresses this same question: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=195392. I hope it helps.

I have both and like the regular better. It feels better in my hand. Either way you can't go wrong.

I have a large regular and love it. Probably my most carried knife, even though I try to rotate. I am seriously considering a small classic, but have been thinking about that for a long while. I like you am a poor college student, and its a significant amount of money.

When I had to decide which to buy i just went by looks. They are both great knives, and will serve you well. I got choose the regular because I decided I liked the extra belly, and it might be useful to me. I am now conisdering the small classic just so I can try both, but need a smaller knife.

You won't be dissapointed whichever one you buy. I had a chance to talk with the man himself, Chris Reeve, at a knife show. He is a heck of a nice guy, and fully backs his products. He gave me some advice on taking the knife apart for cleaning, and lubing.

The small classic Sebenza is probably my favorite knife. Here are the reasons why I like it better than the small regular: 1) the blade is just a tad longer; 2) the blade is pointier, but the tip, somehow, seems even stronger than that of the regular model; 3) the thumbstud cut-out on the classic is larger and this makes it easier to open the blade; it's not such a big deal on the large models, perhaps, but this is a big plus in a small knife.

I also think the small classic is better looking than the regular model. Hey, I have a small regular, too, and like it a lot. I just like my small classics more!

I much prefer the Classic style, mainly because of the handle shape. The pointier blade is a big plus for me too. Having said that, however, I carry a small regular almost everyday. I happened to trade into it fairly cheaply, and couldnt pass it up. I love the knife. What I'm trying to say is, you won't go wrong with either. I still like the handle better on the Classic.

When I was buying my small Sebenza, I was trying to put the two models in my hands and I decided to take the Regular Sebbie because of the handle grooves : it fit my hands better than the Classic one. But strictly for design, I prefer the Classic, it remembers me the Laguiole with its long pointier blade.

Anyway, you cannot be wrong with a Sebenza !!!
:D

WOOHOO! Somewhere out there, there is a slab of titanium and a slab of S30V that, in about 4 weeks, will come together to make my small classic LH Sebbie. I can't wait :D :D :D

Not a true side by side but....

I prefer the regular as it feels bulkier in hand. However, I've come to like the pointier tip of the classic also. Tough choice!
