I like the look and functionality of both for EDC use.
Better materials on the Guru.
Prices are similar.
T4 is larger. I prefer smaller knives for EDC.

Any advice on how you decide which knives to purchase?

Per your preferences, and as you already mentioned above; better size and better materials on the Guru. I've not been terribly impressed with the Brous knives that have gone through my hands. The Kizers are generally pretty good, I had both a flipper and thumb stud Guru, decided to keep the thumb stud version. Both of my examples were perfect though.

Never owned a Kizer but I've been happy with all the Brous knives I've owned so far. I currently own 3. I can tell you this, Brous customer service in my experience has been outstanding. Keena, customer service manager at Brous, has always been curtious and very helpful. That means a lot to me.

Prices are similar? At one website, the Brous is $500 and the Kizer is $180. What am I missing?

I think there's a G10 version of the Brous T4 that's closer to the price of the Guru.

I have the flipper/handle hole Guru and really enjoy it. It's on my list to pimp out someday; evidence that I like it enough to spend more money one it! If you go to the Kizer sub-forum there are a few posts about some blade and handle mods that have been done with a Guru.

I only have one Brous knife; a first Gen Bionic. It has some nice features but, in my opinion, is also a deeply flawed knife (hence the Bionic 2.0 which followed shortly thereafter). I just can't see the value in the Bionic and it's kept me from seriously considering the purchase of other Brous Blades. My Bionic lives somewhere in a knife bag and never gets carried.

Hackenslash is correct about the price of the G10 version. My bad, I should have mentioned that in my original post..

OK, found a G10 for around $233. That is one big heavy knife too at 6oz! Big and tactical. And at that price I would expect something better than D2 steel, never mind the $500 carbon fiber version. This knife seems like a bad value to me.

If you want a smaller knife, then the Guru is a no brainer. It has S35VN, titanium handles, and much lighter at 4oz, and for the price difference you can pick up another cheaper knife. From what I have seen, the Guru is not really good in big hands, if that is you.

IMHO, a couple of knives I have from CH Knives are better values, and give up nothing in construction, the CH 3504 at $90 and the CH 3001 at around $50. I have posted reviews here about them if you are interested.

Don't have the Guru, but have a G10 T4......it is my least favorite Brous.
I like the blade, action and F&F. They're all very good.
What is not good......the scales.
The scales are very uncomfortable in hand.........very.
I almost sent the knife to Steve Ketchen for custom scales. Thanks to Peteytwopointone for starting a thread on Steve.
I carried the knife once. Never again.
Sucks too because it's a good knife.
Go for the Kizer!!
Joe
