Deciding between Small 21 or 31 Unique Graphics

I’m generally not a fan of the graphic designs CRK uses, but every once in a while one shows up that I really like. One is a small 21, and one is a small 31 made late-2020, so hopefully after the teething phase for the 31s. I was planning to hold off on a 31 until they switched to the S45VN blade steel, but, realistically, I would never notice.

The 21 would be the last of its kind, and the graphics would hold up better in the long run, even if the color faded away. But I probably prefer the graphics on the 31 a bit more, and the dealer is willing to check the knife carefully before sending it. I’m also somewhat interested seeing the 31 changes in person, but of course I have years for that. I do have a PJ small 21, so neither would be my only CRK.

WWYD?

Get both and return the one you like less. You are only out shipping!

Many thanks. I know that’s an option, but I’d prefer to avoid that if possible. I get that is should be a part/cost of doing business for dealers, but this isn’t a situation where I need to do that.

Get the one that speaks to you. In this case, it sounds like the 31.

Don’t be afraid to get 31 if you prefer the graphics

I have 2 31’s from late 2020 and they have no issues

I prefer the traditional design. The 21 is the closest you can get to the original design. They are also drying up but far more small 21’s are on dealer site than larges. With all I have seen with the 31, you would have a hard time giving me one. If I ever did get a 31, it would be for collective purposes and not for use.

The 31 will probably be around for another 10 years. Plenty of time to get one. The 21, not so much.

I would go with the 21. The 31's will be around a while, and the bugs some people are reporting should be fixed as well.

Some of the unique graphics are harder to sell down the road. So, I would pick the one that appeals to me the most with the intent of never getting rid of it. Even though the 21’s are no longer being made, they’ll still be available on the secondary market until people start hoarding them like the older regulars/annuals, originals. But even they come up for sale from time to time

I agree with Ajack60 Ajack60

Unique Graphics tend to hold their value differently compared to other CRK models. A certain design either appeals to you or it does not. Get the one that speaks to you.
