Hello, I am a new person to the knife community and I want to get a knife under $100 and I want help deciding between the Spyderco Endura 4 wave and the Spyderco Centofante 3. I am fairly good at sharpening and just want a nice knife to EDC. Thank you

The Endura is a great knife - it's on the larger end of EDC but certainly doable. The Centofante 3 is a little smaller - but I guess I like the Endura better. Better ergos in my opinion.

Carried my endura today. Its a great knife, but you have to maintain your edge more than some steels. Very ergonomic, the deployment is decent, lock up solid. Good knife. I have no experience with the Centofante in any of its variations.

Get an Endura or Delica (smaller). But in your price range are also the Native 5 and Manix regular and LWs.

I've never handled a Centofante, but the Endura 4 is a spectacular knife that I can't recommend enough.

Don't have either.......but want both. [emoji12]. So while you are deciding, here are a few of mine to look at. [emoji41]. Maybe by the time you decide, I'll have one or both so I can actually contribute to the discussion.

I've owned several Enduras over the years but never a wave model. I'm not a fan of the wave feature so I would pass on that. The Centofante is one of my favorite Spyderco knives. For a daily carry knife, it's smaller and lighter than an Endura but just as ergonomic. I like the thin, narrow blade and the hollow grind. Both knives can take a great edge but the Centofante just seems to cut like a laser.

I carried an Endura through the 1990s but the world has changed since then. Knives were tools in the 90's but now they're looked upon as weapons by the masses. It's best to be discreet these days and a smaller knife will draw less paranoia from those around you than a large knife like the Endura. Even the 3.125" blade of Centofante 3 and its overall look will make some folks nervous. It's one of the reasons I almost always carry two knives--one of them being a Dragonfly 2 that I can use around other people without feeding their paranoia.

Welcome to the forums and the hobby. If I were to choose an EDC blade between those two knives, I'd pick the Centofante 3.

A waved Endura 4 (or any waved model for that matter) would not be my choice for EDC. The wave feature is designed to open the knife when drawn. There are times where I'd like to be discreet and less deliberate when I draw my knife, particularly when I'm around other people. This is especially the case with a larger knife like the Endura. That's not to say that this isn't a great knife. I own a Waved Endura 4, mainly as a collectible (the Bayou Shooter edition). I must admit though, I greatly prefer the Full Flat Grind (FFG) Endura 4 models as opposed to the Saber Grind that the waved model has for most EDC cutting chores (opening packages, cutting up food, cutting cordage, etc.) as it more easily moves through material and is a much better slicer. Sticking with FRN, the FFG Endura4/Stretch/Delica4/Dragonfly2 are among my favorite 'EDC' knives. The Manix2 LW and Native5 LW are also compelling choices.

i'd get a native 5/G10!vary strong little lock back that fits into coin or other pocket,or the stretch/FRN is a hole lot of knife for its size, both are vary good EDCers.

I am not an Endura fan really and I think the Centofante3 is one of the most underrated Spydies out there. The Centofante with its hollow ground 2mm blade will out slice that Endura and its 3mm saber ground blade. I vote Centofante3. :)
