I now have online access to the Buck Mesa and the Buck Compadre Camp knife.

I gotta decide. Any one have informed opinions as to which would be the better carry for a single carry all purpose camp/hike/"walk with it on my belt" knife?
8 bucks difference is no difference as far as price. Just wondering the whys of y'alls preferences.

i have both. they are similar in size and shape. mesa has thumb ramp which some like and some don't. it's kinda on the sharp side for my liking, but some simple stone work would fix that when i stop being lazy. mesa has the micarta slabs which is nice, but i like bucks birch wood laminate dymondwood stuff just as much.

5160 is good. it's easy to sharpen. holds a working edge decently enough for my needs...... but i kinda like the 420hc a little better myself.

the mesa sheath is pretty ingenious, for ambit switch over and retention and such....... but i don't like it. due to the molded belt loop size doesn't fit well on my gun belts as my belts are too thick, and it rides weird on my belt and makes using it uncomfortable while sitting and having to swing my leg over a low fence etc awkward. course the mesa fits in the 104's leather sheath so that can be remedied easily and fairly cheaply.

overall looks wise i prefer the mesa due to no red coating, but it's a minor visual thing. the shape of the 104 is pleasing to me as it's kinda classic in a way, but in the end it's the pick what you want and will like better.

The late Hall of Fame catcher for the New York Yankees, Yogi Berra, was known for many funny quotes including one of my favorites: 'It's like deja vu all over again'.

I like the Compadre 5160 steel, wood handle, leather sheath and pretty red color.

sorry I may be stupid to ask it but is it common to use "deja vu" in English ? I have never seen that before where-else of France .

You should have been in the US in the 1960's. I was a child but my teachers and coaches and Boy Scout leaders had been to Europe in World War II. "Nien" meant, "No, and do not ask again or I'll kill you." "Oui" meant "Yes", in a flirtatious or sexy context.

thank you all for that English lesson ! its fun for me to find French words in an American forum !
