Outlaws,

I am agonizing over which knife to purchase this weekend. I have my choice narrowed down to either the L.T. Wright Genesis or the Bark River Bushcrafter.

I've been going back and forth looking at reviews, videos and pricing on both but still find myself stuck ... even after two weeks of research.

I've got around a dozen BR knives and have yet to find a single one I just don't really love and I am sure I will continue my collection but for some reason I keep going back to the L.T Wright Genesis. I know I can't go wrong with another BR but I don't know much about this Genesis knife. I understand that BHK split up and I know about the rep of BHK although I've never owned or even held one and them being fine knives.

When it comes to purpose, I have my BR and ESEE collections along with the Fallkniven F1 & A1 so I am sure I have a knife for every purpose but was thinking more about bushcrafting, which again seems to be what both of these knives are meant for. I also understand I am looking at a 3.8" vs 4.25" blade.

I was hoping to get some more contrast/comparison information or hear of your experiences with one or the other of the knives ... maybe even both if someone has used both.

Thanks or any

I have the BRKT Bushcrafter and it is a lovely knife. The only issue that I have is with CPM 3V. Until I took this steel to benchstones I just couldn't get it sharp. Stropping works only to maintain a pretty decent edge in my experience.

I too have looked at the Genesis but I am tending toward smaller blades paired with my parang so I am (currently) passing on it. I would say that I suspect the Genesis will be a heck of a lot easier to sharpen in the field...

If you are experienced with 3V and/or other hard super-steels you may not care about my observations.

Good luck making your choice - as you say, I don't think you'll be disappointed either way you go ;)

Ben
