Hey guys, used to frequent this site regularly years ago, but have strayed away for some odd reason. My first EKI was a Mach1 and I absolutely loved that knife, but lost it and never found another one. My second EKI was a cqc7BT and snapped the blade trying to pry open a door that was locked. Obviously my own fault and stupidity. I have not bought a new knife in years, currently EDC a spyderco para, but want another EKI badly. The usage would be normal chores, plus whatever might come up. I am in the military and need one that stands up to abuse, so EKI is my choice. I am liking the 15, 8, horseman, 7A, 7B, & commander. I am not a fan of combo edges, although I know they have their place. Whatever I end up getting, I want the stonewashed finish. Any one out there have experiences with these and reccomend one over the other?
 
I can only speak for the 8 since it is the only one among those that you listed that I own. I love mine - I got the Super 8 in plain edge stone wash finish, and that it has served me well. I recently sent it off for modifications, and when it gets back I don't doubt that it'll serve me even better.

The 8 is good because it combines a strong upswept blade (good cutting surface and power) with a crowned swedge giving it excellent penetrating potential. It's the perfect compromise between a clip point and a tanto.

I heartily recommend the 8. Get the Super 8 if you want a real work horse, or a mini-8 if you want all of the above in a smaller knife that won't break your ass if you accidentally sit on it. :D
 
I would also say the 8 is the best choice out of the knives mentioned. The 7a would be a good choice to make as well.
 
Im in the Militay too and my daily carry is CQC8 for on duty, and a 7B is for off duty, i only can suggest bith, but for duty the 8 fits the bill better cause, more positive grip, and the extra blade length!

Get one, you will be satisfied:) i promise :D
 
Thanks for the input guys. I am getting both the 7A and the 8. More suited to my needs and is more utilitarian. Now I just have to wait for them to get here!!!!
 
I dunno about you, but an 8 is next on my list.
Although the 13 I just got is a good one too...

I suggest a mini 8 or hd7. But the hd7 doesn't come in SW at the moment. It is on the other hand the EKI that got me to give up every other EKI.I had an 8, 2 commanders, and a mini 8. I now have 3 hd7s and one mini8 with a str framelock conversion. I highly rec the hd7.
