Ok, im trying to decide weather to ask for the military, or mega Manix???
I know your gunna say "get both" but I can only get ONE.
I want either of these knives as my BIG, hard use folder.
If you guys could give me some advise on which knife to get it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Zach

I have the old large C95 Manix and the M390 Military.

Both nice knives so it's going to have to come down to your preference of lock style and weight. The Manix is probably more suited to taking a beating with it's lock and extra heft. The Military is a crazy slicer that is very light weight for it's size.

Good luck.

I have both, and like the Manix better by a hair.

It's sturdier and heavier. It also has a "fatter" blade.

Ill vote for the Mili, but since you stated hard use then I think you would want the manix.

I know the GB isn't among your choices, but I figure I'd throw it in the mix anyway.

What do you consider hard use? While I think the Manix might be sturdier overall than the Military, it's been sitting in my kniferoll ever since I got it and I have never even carried it. Not because I don't want to, but because I don't feel that it might do anything better than the Military or GB which I already carry often. For ergos and control, it's hard to choose between the Military and the Manix, although I would have to say that the Military has a more comfortable grip. The Gayle Bradley, even though it's smaller and has a thinner blade than the other two, is the one that inspires confidence the most.

The Military has a longer blade and bigger pivot
The Manix has the backlock (I have the original Manix), and the thicker blade
The Gayle Bradley has the thickest liners (double the thickness of the liners in the Manix), and better blade steel

I had to pry out a bolt that caused a puncture in the tire of my girlfriend's SUV, I'm glad I had the Gayle Bradley that day. I don't think the Military nor the Manix would have been up to the task.

I've also got a Millie and the old lockback Manix. I'm not a big fan of the new lock on the current Manix model, so I'd have to vote Millie. Even vs the old Manix, I'd probably still vote Millie just due to the weight difference. If you're going to use the knife hard enough that a Millie can't take it, I'd recommend a fixed blade IMHO :)

If you have big hands like me, you'll love the Military. The blade is an excellent slicer too.

I think everyone into spyderco should own a military , then again a manix is worth owning two:D That was really helpfull. ?
