Ok, you are stuck on a desert island with all the food and water you need, so now for the important decision..... Giner or Mary Ann?

Lol, ok I would take Mary Ann. Now for the real question. Having just obsoleted myself at my place of employment I recieved a goign away gift certificate for my favorite gunshop. All of it has to be used there and adding some additional is no problem. Now what to go for? Any suggestions? Say in the $250 area, maybe a bit more. What would be your choice(s)?

Both. Got plenty of time,right?

How about a nice new Ruger or Browning 22 target pistol. You and Mary Ann can shoot the coconuts off the palm trees.

Definitely Marianne. Her and that banana cream pie...*yummmmm* Ginger who?

I'll second the Ruger, as a deserted island can have alot of exposure to salt water, and Rugers are available in stainless. I've had mine for 15 years or so and it's still going strong. Great little gun.

Does your gun shop sell fishin poles?

Marianne is a fly fisher, ya know...oh, and that'd be a ditto on the Marianne if ya hadn't guessed. Ginger was pretty much useless for anything but...companionship, ya, that's what I was gonna say...

If not a fishin pole, I think some sorta 22 rifle would be more my taste.

Gotta go with the farmer's daughter (Marianne) on this one.

I'd also opt for one of the Ruger or Browning .22 semi-auto's.

Say... do you see a trend here or what? Great minds...

Did you know that little innocent Mary Ann was a former Miss Nevada? So Mary Ann is the definite choice!

Now to the $250. That .22 handgun sounds like a good route too, besides my other suggestion Lee. I know you aren't big on .22's, but believe me, you'll LOVE a good shooting .22 autoloader!

You may never want to load .22 shells in a 'thumbbuster' ever again!

Good luck!

Ya know, Darren brings up a good point. How `bout a nice, stainless .22 rifle, something fairly impervious to the salty breezes drifting off the ocean as Marianne seductively feeds you pieces of mango as you rock in your hammock...

Sorry, what was I saying? Oh yeah, a stainless 10/22 would be a nice choice, the one with the nylon stock maybe, a decent little scope and rings, a brick of ammo or two, the whole package would burn the gift certificate with probably not much $ to add to it.

I'll still stick with Marianne.

I agree on the stainless 10/22 and I bet you wouldn't even have to teach Mary Ann to clean game.

Take care,

Mike

Some very good ideas here for sure.

Well I visited the gunstore today, checked out what they had on the shelves. The things that perked my interest the most were:

1. Stainless Ruger Single six with adjustable sights and extra .22 mag cylander, I have a blued fixed sighted version with a scope currently.

2. .22 mag Ruger 10/22 - but not sure I want something strictly .22 mag.

3. Stainless Ruger MkII with bull barrel.

4. and a sweet looking Marlin 45/70 Guide Rifle - this is a sweet little rifle.
