My Becker collection has grown very quickly in the past year or so, but I never really liked the 10. I also wasn't crazy about the 17, but I love my 15 and 16 so I figured I needed to complete the tweener collection. When I ordered the 17 I planned to give it a straight clip like I've seen a few of you guys do. Well, it came in and I liked it a lot more than I thought. A good problem to have, but suddenly I was scared to mess it up by straightening the clip. Back to the 10, I thought I would get it and just start grinding like crazy to practice for the 17. Remove thumb ramp, add a choil, smooth the transition from the spine to the tip, and maybe grind down the pommel to match the profile of the scales (nothing new or ground breaking there either). My first step was to remove the ramp, and now with only one small part of my plan complete, I REALLY like this knife. Now I don't know what to do. Do I keep grinding and try to bring my ideas to completion, or leave well enough alone and stop short of my initial goal?

Here's where we're at so far

Keep grinding.

At least do as I just did - smooth the spine-to-tip transition and reduce the front finger guard (wattle?) to match the scales.

Not only does it improve the 10, it gives you more practice grinding more complex lines.
