In addition to a couple of other HI items I want to get, I am trying to decide between ordering a 15" AK, a BAS, and the 16.5 WWII. Aside from the obvious answer (get all three), what are some of the forum opinions on these "mid size" knives? Of course, only here are 15"+, 1.25 lbs+ blades, in the "mid size" range! I will probably not give the knife as much really hard usage as some folks here, but this one is intended for a worker/fighter, all contingencies purpose. I know this is like asking "Which is better, Ford or Chevy", but does anyone have any first hand comparisons?

The WWII is considered a great combination worker/fighter, so that is most likely your best choice. And if you're not happy with it, you can always exchange it for another model.

Judging by my MS, it is unlikely I will be unhappy with any of them, so I guess my problem is better stated as "Which to get FIRST!" Thanks for the advice, though, that statement about the WWII did catch my eye.

There must be Gelbu Specials of the range at Uncle Bill, may not be the regular length and may not always in stock though.

As one forumite ( actually a whole bunch ) decided, if Ill do this or that or the other I'll take x, y, z. If I don't know *what* I'm going to have to use it for, I take the 18" WWII. I've got a WW11 blade on a Hanuman handle - from a run the kamis made by mistake ( they were supposed to put a dui chirra hanuman blade on a standard WW11 handle and reversed it ) that I'd grab in those circumstances.

Rusty, I think that I would take the Hanuman, with the diu chirra blade. It really has some heft to it. I really like the swiss army kukri.

Life is short, art endures.

In the sort time it has been in existence the Gelbu Special has sold very briskly and many times to first time buyers. Might be worth consideration.

The kamis make this khukuri in the 18 to 21 inch range usually, thinking it is good to offer a little variation in size.

How similar in shape/weight is the Gelbu to my MS? From photos it looks quite similar. I just ordered a Bowie, and I will order a Kumar Kobra and one of the mid size Khuks at the end of the week or beginning of next week, so I have some time left for indecisiveness.

Jack, the two are almost identical. Take your time and get what you really want. And, if you get something that doesn't fit your hand you can trade it for something else that does. Worst case, you get your money back if we can't find anything for you.
