I'm now between a Buck Strider tanto and the Benchmade Griptillian 551. Why can't I have both? :(. I'm leaning towards the Benchmade. Anyone with experience?

Thanks
Dan

I've got a Benchmade 551, but nothing from Strider or Buck. The Benchmade 551 cuts very well. The last time I used it, doing a gourd-carving project, the handle was so comfortable that I didn't realize I had developed blisters and wore them away. Very secure, very comfortable, very affordable.

i personally think tanto blades would work better for sword use/slashing than everyday use. plus they look pretty fluckin ugly on a folder. get the grippy.

I think Alan is on to it.

I had a mini-Buck Strider with a tanto blade. I've also owned many Microtech products. I never considered them the same tool.

If I needed to cut things imprecisely, and maybe lightly pry open cartons in a warehouse setting, especially in inclimate weather, I would pick the Buck Strider.

But if I had to describe my usual work day as 'slicing,' then it's a Microtech, hands down.

I want both. I have a razor edge on a Strider SnG, but that's not the point of your debate.
