Hello HOGS,

I'm trying to make my next Busse purchase a "keeper". I've owned (or at least handled) a great deal of the "standard prodution" stuff. I've ended up selling or trading them all and still haven't found my "perfect" Busse.

Here's my dilema. I'm trying to decide between an Active Duty, Leaner Meaner, or Mean Street as an almost EDC or when/where I can't carry concealed. If anyone owns one of these and could compare them to other Busse's I'd appreciate it.

Also, I'm interested in a 6" blade later on. How does the new SFNO compare to the NO-E? ZTNO?

Can't help with the 1st part, but...

I have a .270 SFNO with magnum scales (thanks Dunner). Compared to my old NO-E its a better all around knife - for me. I did sand the sales down some, to bring it down to the width of my Kar-Bar. To me the straighter fatter grip just makes the knife much more "wooby". That translates to, less likely to roll in my mitt or get torqued out while prying. I have noticed that since thinning the scales I can use the knife longer with less fatigue. Jerry mentioned that when they first came out. In .220 stock I think it would be less of an issue.
I got rid of the NO-E a while ago, but I recall the choil being smaller and of less use to me.
Steel wise - its good stuff. It takes an edge well and holds it well. Its also more likely to compress than to chip. I found this out last week when I turned the tip into hook. Got busy and couldn't index the sheath so I chucked in the dirt. While it was sticking there it was attacked by a nasty subterranean AP Hill rock creature. That could happen to any knife. It fixed up pretty well with a tricep rod, again Jerry said its supposed to roll before it chips.
I've had a few Busse knives -basic 7 & 5, NO-E, SJ - and this is by far my favorite. hopefully it will come around again, I would actually buy two.

Thanks Dunner? Wait a sec didn't he have a black/Tiger fat SFNO? If so you got a freaking great knife...

I don't think God himself could have designed a better knife than the Leaner Meaner Street. :D

Hi,
I have an AD green and green with Okuden sheath.Been a daily carry since last spring.
Had the knife for a while and carried in an old Schrade sheath before Brian came to the rescue with his Kydex.I like it very much, the knife and sheath.
I would like to have a Leaner Meaner for carry though.Would still keep the AD.Either comes down to your own choice.
The ZT NO I have came from you a few years ago.It had seen some use then and had a few light scratches. That I doubt I would give up.It is pretty much a perfect big size blade, for my use.I like the lighter blade and size for what I may need.
In the end it all comes down to preference.I bet you couldn't even get an argument going here on an AD,Leaner Meaner,or Meaner Street as to which is the best. Most would probably have the same type of answer I have. Both are awesome to say the least.
Hope this is of some help.
Take Care,
Pete
