I need a new EDC carry for SD. At first I was leaning toward the Cold steel Recon 1 because of the 4" blade. Then I was leaning toward the Spyderco Endura Wave because of the quick deployment. I will probably eventually get both but it wont be for a while. Suggestions?

It is considerably easier to carry size/shape-wise...

If you are only in it for SD, I would seriously look at the Emerson LeGriffe. It is an unparalleled dedicated SD blade.

Recon hands down. It is big, sharp, and robust. Super easy to deploy also. On that note try getting a CCW if you can. Much more socially acceptable. keepem sharp

Why don't you get the AK-47 by Cold Steel. It has the Axis-like lock(Arch-Lock) and 4 inch blade like the Recon knife and the thumbstud that acts like a "wave"-like feature like the Waved Spyderco Endura.
